Oh gawd!! Grooaaan!! They can't pull the wool past your eyes can they Del?
Annie asked two of our local milkos if they could supply us with eight extra pints but both of them lacked eight to give us.
Sam.

My partners Brother is a milkman; has been for many years now in the Greater London area. He says its not a job for the faint hearted any more & he regularly gets stuff nicked from the vehicle & has been robbed for his money on occasions too. Many moons ago I had a huge collection of milk bottles when they ran the ads on them for just about anything. My mates collected them too & we'd swap them like top trumps!! Anyone remember the Unigate ads 'Watch out theres a Humphrey about' ??

Here's an unusual Milk Marketing Board tv ad featuring the filming of the Hammer film 'Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires'. Btw, in case anyone is interested I noticed that Robin Stewart who stars in the film ( best known for playing Mike in 'Bless This House' ) died last November aged 69. I don't think it's him doing the voiceover ( oddly it sounds quite like Anthony Jackson who played the neighbour in Bless This House ).

The computer? I shudder to think what he does with the mouse!
Back to topic though and it I'm sad to say that I haven't seen any milko on their rounds for probably 20 years. While the supermarkets will be the underlying cause, the downside of the milko was that during the summer the milk would always get warm and go off in no time. Nowadays it seems to last a lot longer.
Still something nostalgic about hearing the clink clink of the bottles and the whine of the battery powered floats first thing in the morning though.
Sam. If you were posh you could have got a Milk Minder like this to keep the bottles cool in summer and to stop them freezing in winter. We do now have a Milk and More delivery where i live, but for many years didn't have any option but to get milk from the supermarket. Anyone remember this milkman ?

The Milk Minder is news to me. Never seen one anywhere. Anyone have one of those ? The milkman supplied us with a container years ago to stop the milk going off during hot weather, not as posh as that one though. I think it only held 2 bottles & from what I remember it didn't work.
