Our milkman still uses the electric float similar to the one in the first post. We get a couple of pints every other day and the milkman's a nice guy, usually have a bit chat with him every couple of weeks when he delivers the bill. It's cheaper to get it from one of the supermarkets but it's something we've always done.
Sometimes hear him running up the drive at 4am when I'm on my way back to bed after my early morning p*** run.
Does get annoying when I get caught behind him on the way to work though

We haven't had our milk delivered for years now but one of our elderly neighbours still has her milk delivered by a bloke in a modern custom built Ford Transit; he is obviously making a decent living at it but good luck to him!

No, there are no milkmen delivering in my neighbourhood. It's one of the things about Britain when I was a kid, that I miss. I can still remember our milk mans name all these year later. ( Sammy) We used to get our bread delivered too, along with other things.

Used to have one, Co-op milk float I think and in my childhood I'm sure it was the 3 wheeled type. I remember the Unigate ones too, they came to my primary school.
I can remember the earlier taller bottles and then the changeover to the shorter wider ones. I've kept one to keep car washer fluid in for over 20 years, after realising I had contaminated it, nobody queried it!
But sadly, there aren't any in my street and I get mine from the Quick Save.

The decline of milkmen round my way( the London area) began in the mid 80s I would think. We had a local co-op depot that had several floats close around that time leaving only Unigate to linger on until the early 90's.

My older brother used to get Hot Car magazine years ago and I've always remembered this issue that had the V8 engined "Pastyereyes Express":
It would get the round done a bit quicker.

I don't bother Windy. If I have a knackered mill I just nip down to Woolworths to buy some new ones:

Woolworths Ok, I'll give them a go. I'll need to see what time they open.
