To clarify I don't think the acting is to blame for the shite Bond films and there are quite a lot of those and more than likely that number will rise this year

Bond. Just has to be Roger Moore. Connery was OK but Roger's acting and films were better in my opinion. I think Moore was a nicer bloke than Connery in real life too, though that has no bearing on my choice of best Bond. Russ Abbott was the worst Tel.

Connery had a much bigger acting range than Moore, demonstrated by the types of other films he did.
Spitting Image had it right with the raised eyebrow bit.
A nicer guy than Connery in real life but Bond isn’t a nice guy, he’s a government assassin mostly.
However The Spy Who Loved Me is one of the best Bond films!

The Saint Hmmm, indeed, I would agree with the consensus of opinion, and especially with Mr Templar, that there has been no better Bond than Moore! Acting range? Yes Connery acted in more films than Moore did but I think Roger was a bit more selective. Could you imagine Roger Moore ever signing up to such films as Zardoz, Outland, or Time Bandits? Certainly not dear boy! Lord B.

This is how I see the various Bonds Connery Sean's films were ground-breaking and were the right mix of uber cool 60s backdrop set with the right amount of tech and violence. They are faithful to the original stories by Fleming. I think they have aged remarkably well . It was a far harder job to pick up the pieces of a job someone had done fantastically before you. Many wouldn't take that on but enter The Clothes Peg. Lazenby The much derided George Lazenby is really good in his one outing considering its his debut. Critics were not happy but I think it was raw after Sean departed and George took the flak for that. Having watched OHMSS on its 50th anniversary I think its aged well. Moore I like Roger Moore's Bond and for me it's a fag paper between him and Connery for the best as far as this is possible. Unfortunately for Roger, Live and Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, Moonraker and A View To A Kill are weaker scripts than the 60s films. There's nothing he can do about that and this is an example why many give Sean the nod. Fortunately for Mr Moore he got out after A View To A Kill (and should have left that dog of a film alone ) Roger bailed a film too late but did the right thing as worse was to come. I grew up in this era and love all these films even though the 60s ones are better than a few as mentioned. I really like The Spy Who Loved Me and Octopussy as the best of the Moore films. Dalton Timothy Dalton's films are possibly the worst scripts of the whole lot and again you can't blame the actor for that certainly not anything to do with Tim's portrayal . Brosnan As for Mr Brosnan's films unfortunately none have aged well. Even the title songs on those from this era apart from Tina Turner's effort are crud. Despite a big budget and special effects technology doing wonders in the industry these movies suffer from yet more poor scripts. It's all ludicrous baddies with even worse accents and far fetched technology. Invisible XK8 anyone? Do me a favour. Piers did after that and bailed. That leads me onto Craig. Craig Craig's debut was great. A change of direction to make things more realistic was a shot in the arm for the franchise. I read it sought to take Connery's Bond but update the surroundings . I think Casino Royale achieves that . For the first time since Octopussy in 1983 a really good Bond movie was made. Unfortunately for him it went south on the very next movie, a Quantom Of Dog Shite followed and if that wasn't bad enough a mixture of pony scripts and awful CGI infused follow ups let alone the terrible replacements for other major characters has all but left the Bond series on life support. A touch of Brosnan is back in the later Craig movies and I fear (hope) this next outing will kill this franchise off because it's completely spent .
We all know that won't happen though because even the worst dog of a Bond film makes money.

Thinking again about Larry Grayson, I expect he would've bent over backwards for the meaty part of Bond.

I like the Bond franchise and like all of the films/actors however I struggle to watch Timothy Dalton. Controversial on here perhaps but I don't mind the ones with Pierce Brosnan & Daniel Craig.
