I actually found Man with the Golden Gun quite entertaining when I first watched it as a kid, but much of it is quite silly now, like the comedy "noise" dubbed over when the red AMC Hornet jumps the broken bridge, (they never sold US AMC cars in Thailand in real life anyway..... and the local police wouldn't have used them as police cars), did we really need to see an albeit off duty Sheriff J W Pepper again, (although my dad used to crack up at his lines!) and the Flying car.
Does have co-star Christopher Lee, although his performance for the Villain who has a thing about "dualling" in his "Fun Palace/obstacle course" was a bit benign with hindsight.

That noise rather degrades the scene, why turn it into a comedy moment when its supposed to an exciting action moment. Pepper was funny in LALD, as a mad type red-neck (as Gene is now), he was mildly amusing in this one but as you say, was he needed?

Yeah Roger Moore always seemed so calm and never took anything seriously!

I see that there is a book out by Terry O’Neill the photographer with loads of pics taken during the making of the Bond films.

How insane it is that so many details remain in place 46 years later! Erm ... confession time. I’ve never watched a Bond film "No DI Drake, I expect you to watch Goldfinger and offer an intelligent critique of the film!"

I’ve never watched a Bond film How have you avoided them?
When they came on TV it was a big event back in the day
When they came out it was virtually mandatory to get along to the local fleapit
I actually saw Live and Let Die at the Empire in Leicester Square for a friend's birthday treat - seem to remember we went to a Wimpy Bar afterwards. Now that's how you celebrate a 10 year olds birthday!

I remember Carry on Spying, Carry on Screaming, and Carry on up the Khyber were particular favourites
Frying tonight!
