Good sets of photos Vill. What is that little yellow sports two seater behind the angle box in the second of the McLaren factory snaps. To me it looks a bit Lancia ? See below It's a Ginetta Del, not sure which particular model though . Villain

I thought it looked a bit like a Lotus Elan, maybe because it's yellow and Lotuses often were

When the new William Towns designed DBS appeared a four door version was built for David Brown, six others followed this but they had the later V8 style front end. Villain I love these early 4-door Lagondas...!! I have yet to see a picture in colour but I believe David Browns example was a dark purple with a purple interior to boot!!! It has been restored now but to a far more conservative (and boring!!) specification. I think it was originally a dark blue-ish purple and is now dark blue . Another few from the good old days.... George Harrison was a massive petrolhead and owned well over a hundred cars, in late 1965 he ordered a new Mini Cooper 1275 S which was bought for him through Brian Epstein's company 'Brydor', it was sent straight from the factory at Longbridge to Harold Radford's workshop in King Street, Hammersmith for a very expensive makeover with a complete repaint from the standard grey into black, with extras like electric windows with fully tinted glass all round, a full leather interior and a custom bonnet to take a pair of spotlamps, it was registered 'LGF 695D' on 8th February 1966 and was used by George almost daily. In this pic he has just arrived at Chiswick House in West London for the filming of the promo video for 'Paperback Writer'.... In early 1967 he decided to give it another makeover, this time in full on psychedelic mode, it was painted red and images from an Indian book on tantric art were painted over the top by hand.... In 1968 he sold it to Eric Clapton who used it for a few years before George persuaded him to let him have it back.... An earlier picture of it at Radford's workshop in late '65 / early '66.... In October '66 George went to Heathrow Airport in his newly acquired black Ferrari 275GTB to pick up Ravi Shankar.... In September '67 he used his Radford Cooper S in the 'Magical Mystery Tour' film with John as his passenger.... This shot was taken in George's garden by a fan.... Villain

Thanks for more fantastic photos Villain and to Saint I forgot to mention for your dad's Taxi pic.
I too find those 4 door Aston DBS/V8 based Lagondas interesting too, I believe at car shows I have seen at least one, possibly at the NEC Birmingham years ago. The first photo of the G reg DBS based car is outside Aston Martin's then offices in Newport Pagnell. Across the street it looks like a building going up; not sure if it's the same one used for Aston Martin's modern showroom nowadays. The old hut building and white pickett fencing has gone long gone now though. I believe the houses next to the hut are still there.
Wonder if Mick Jagger's DB6 did survive (no record of the number) but the Peter Sellers DB4 has and so has Lord Snowden's DB5 drophead.

Fantastic pictures Villain! Interesting to see that 4 door Aston, didn't know they ever made a 4 door back then, admittedly as a special. Wonder if they survived?

Fantastic pictures Villain! Interesting to see that 4 door Aston, didn't know they ever made a 4 door back then, admittedly as a special. Wonder if they survived? As far as I know all seven have survived, the first one used to belong to a poster on Pistonheads for a while. In 1974 Tony Curtis paid a visit to the factory to test drive one of the later Lagondas with the V8 front end styling.... He was then driven away in a metallic brown DBS Coupe.... Sticking with Aston Martins, George Harrison bought a new DB5 in 1965, these three photos were taken at his home in Esher in 1966.... This one was taken somewhere in London long after he'd sold it.... A rare Shooting Break.... Filming 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.... Stirling Moss at Le Mans in '63 having a shuftie at one of the DB4GT Zagatos.... Macca with his DB6 outside the gates of Lennon's country pile 'Kenwood' in Weighbridge in early '67.... A later AM V8 in 1978.... An unusual AM transporter.... Villain

On the entirely appropriate subject of Astons, here's Sir Roge being reunited with his DBS from The Persuaders.

On the entirely appropriate subject of Astons, here's Sir Roge being reunited with his DBS from The Persuaders.
The older my Dad got, the more he looked liked Roger Moore in that lovely clip, thanks for posting that . More nostalgia ahoy.... Rog and Tone larking about on location in the Summer of 1970.... Tony in Nice between takes with the utterly fabulous little Dino 246GT, Summer 1970.... when I've finished redecorating my house I'm putting an enlarged and framed copy of this on the wall in the back room Goodwood circuit, April 1961 - the second prototype / development Mini Cooper takes part in a pre-launch photo session, the launch date being September that year, on the left is Bruce McLaren and the lady in the headscarf leaning on the car is John Cooper's wife Pauline. The car itself left Longbridge as a standard Austin Mini 850 but was fairly quickly modified with disc brakes, the bigger 997cc engine, a remote gear change replacing the 'magic wand' lever, a one off hand made mesh grille, a one off experimental cloth interior, a one off paint job in dove grey with a dark grey roof and stainless steel trim round the tops of the doors, it kept it's ordinary Austin badges at this point but other versions of photos taken that day often show a very crude looking Cooper style badge hand drawn onto the picture.... Stirling Moss outside his Mayfair mews with his new Mk1 Morris Mini Cooper 997.... Brian Epstein with his newly acquired Series 1 Maserati Sebring in Chapel Street, Belgravia in 1965.... Bond film production designer Ken Adam and his wife with their '65 E-Type.... Dame Margot Fonteyne with her 'wickerwork' Mk1 Morris Mini Minor 850, this now belongs to a member of the Mini Cooper Register and is still in original unrestored condition. The wickerwork was painted on by hand by the same chap who did Peter Sellers Mini Cooper in 1963.... Actress Sarah Lawson with her 1968 Mk2 Morris Mini Estate, she was married to Patrick Allen at the time.... How's this for sheer class - Alan Whicker with his Bentley S3 Continental with coachwork by Mulliner Park Ward, sometimes referred to as the 'Chinese eye' model, in the background behind him is a Piper GTT.... The Bee Gees' drummer Colin Peterson at his London mews with his Ferrari 330GTC and Broadspeed Mini GT.... Another Beatles pic - Macca's Aston DB6 and Radford Morris Mini Cooper S on his drive in St.Johns Wood, just round the corner from EMI at Abbey Road. Note the Aston style rear lights on the Mini, which John Lennon's Radford Mini also had. Aston Martin now own the DB6 and the Mini now belongs to F1 geezer Christian Slater and his missus Gerri Halliwell they also now own Ringo's Hatchback Mini which I'll post smudges of later.... March 1967 - Macca arrives home in his Radford Cooper S with the Webasto roof open.... July 1969 - Macca has just arrived at Abbey Road in his Radford Cooper S.... Villain
