What great pics, thanks Villain. When were they taken? I would guess mid/late 80s, with the Sierra. Another look at what a fantastically gritty and charachterful place London was until comparatively recently. I like some of the old Victorian buildings, which were sadly demolished to make way for the M11

Great photos that document the area around the controversial M11 link road. Built in the late 90s I think. They literally knocked about a mile long stretch of street down to join the start of the M11 to the A102. Which itself was left unfinished at Hackney Wick in the 60s. the A102 was originally supposed to be part of the London Box set of motorways before the project was abandoned. Most of the project that was built was all the motorways in the west that often pop up in The Sweeney. The Westway etc.

Thank you Villain for uploading those links, just amazing! A great time portal and just amazing and saddening to see how many of those old buildings have been lost, and interesting too, to see the condition they were in by the late 80's and later in the late 90's and into 2000 to see what the areas had become. A lot of history lost there.
Great to see some of the older motors too.

Looks to me like they were parked next to a house that was being demolished and masonry fell on them.
I hadn't heard of this M11 protest before, and there's some interesting stuff about it on Wikipedia. I do recollect on the news a similar occupation of houses which were going to be demolished in about 1975, at Elgin Avenue in West London. I like big old Victorian villas like these, they have such presence and character, there's an area of Manchester I deliver to called Whalley Range which has a lot of them, and lots of big trees too, and a superb gothic building which used to be a school abd, especially at this time of the year, I alway s think what a great Sweeney/Life on Mars location it would be

Flickr can be a giant rabbit hole sometimes, you could lose hours on there following links to other collections and albums! The same goes for pinterest too. Here are some more period goodies I've had stuffing up my hard drive - one or two of you might know where some of the locations are, I believe the first one was taken round the back of Len Street's Lotus Dealership in Chelsea... Rick Parfitt of Status Quo with his Merc... Peter Sellers and chums with his own Aston Martin DB4GT on location in South West London filming 'The Wrong Arm Of The Law' in 1961... One of the four modified Aston Martin DB5s built for 'Goldfinger' doing the publicity rounds in London... Lord Snowdon in London in his Aston Martin DB5 Drophead... The first of the Aston Martin DBS Lagondas outside the factory in Newport Pagnell, this one was built for David Brown... Villain
