Furthermore; A couple more bits of information in the later years of the 2 Aston Martins: There's some interesting stories of the cars histories in the descriptions when they went through Bonhams Auctioneers:
990SPE - the DB4 was looking like this by 2010, and was unfinished restoration at the time, but since had a new V5 issued in 2018 so may well have returned to the road according to DVLA
LBH8C the DB6 was actually a factory Demonstrator with Aston Martin and was used as the Motor and Autocar road test car. It changed hands at Bonhams in May 2014 and was original but very solid unrestored condition by then.

Thanks for that DCB (and your previous post on the Bentley T1) - I knew about the DB6's press past but it's nice to see what happened to the DB4 too . Another quickie golden oldie before my Ovaltine gets cold... way back in 1968 my Dad started working for a firm called Livingston Allpack, an export company with a large base at Watford Gap, right next to the West Coast Mainline and very close to the M1 services, one of the first jobs he and his mate were given was preparing one of the spare DB5s used in 'Goldfinger' for onward shipment to Ian Fleming's gaff in Jamaica, with Aston's factory being at nearby Newport Pagnell it made sense for them to use Livingston Allpack to do this, this is the car they shipped out... One way to improve an Allegro! (Joke joke, I don't mind Aggros, even if I'm more of a Marina person) Nice to see Lowis's in their heyday in that last one. Not sure I approve of the Mini headlights though. Excellent stuff once again, Villain

Some great pics there Vill, cars are so throwaway now you never see anyone putting Plastic Padding and spraying them up these days. Some of those Brum pics seem no different these days other bits very different, I know a lot of redevelopment is or will be coming there soon too. Keep em coming mate.

Back when those Brum photos were taken, questions would probably have been asked like "What did you take a picture of that for?" or "What's the point in taking a picture of that car park?". But such short term-ism attitudes fail to acknowledge the value of such pictures as the years pass by. I've long championed the mundane, or at least what would be perceived as mundane, and these pictures are a reason why I do. Beautifully evocative stuff. As for the British Leyland stand at Earl's Court, how gleamingly pristine do the Mini, Allegro and P6 look? I was going to suggest that the empty place between the Allegro and Mini was a typically BL approach to tardiness, but I presume that whatever that blurred car on the turntable is (Marina?) was "living" there, and the other cars would have their moment on the turntable also. Even if they'd end up having to be pushed there! Great pics once again

Thanks gents, I agree on the everyday mundane scene comments, without those people taking such photos, history would very different. Here's an everyday scene in the despatch car park at Longbridge in the early '60s... Villain

Some more period scenes, no details or locations for some of them though... The Tyne Bridge, 1977... Various Rollers, all in London... This Bentley S2 was owned by The Beatles Apple Corp company and was loaned out to various people from time to time, the paint job was done in 1967by Binder, Vaughan & Edwards who did similar things on various cars and shop window displays in the West End at the time, these photos were taken in the Kings Road, Chelsea in 1968... In February 1969 Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink and their manager Gordon Mills met up at Elstree studios for a photo shoot with their Rollers... Old Eng liked his Rollers... He had an S-Type Jag at one point too... Elton John had a large collection of motors in the '70s, here are just a few of them... Bee Gee Barry Gibb had an early Series 2 Lotus Europa... Ronnie 'Plonk' Lane of The Small Faces had an MGA 1600 Coupe... Dame Margot Fontaine had an early Mk1 Mini 850 with 'wickerwork' panels painted on, just like Peter Sellers' first Mini Cooper in 1963... Actress Isobel Black had a Mk2 Mini 1000 modified by John Sprinzel at his garage in Lancaster Mews... Villain
