A very clever and very funny man!
He had the ability to appeal to all ages with the likes of the Carry Ons, Jackanory, and Willo The Wisp etc.

He had a brilliant mind did Kenneth, but could be quite poisonous at times. The Carry On films wouldn't have been the same without him, that's for sure !

Certain people, when they came on TV, were compelling to watch. None of the predictable run of the mill chat.
These people could be as diverse as John Lennon, Brian Clough, Kenny Everett, and Kenneth Williams.

Particularly like his & Hugh Paddick's 'Julian and Sandy' radio characters from 'Round The Horne'. 'Camp' is a word that gets thrown around but Kenneth was one of a kind.

Yeah, I love Kenneth, His performances in the carry on films were better then the rest of the cast by far. He was great on radio and telly too. He could be really bitchy and two faced at times though. Jim Dale recently came out with a story of how Kenneth tried to cause trouble between Peter Butterworth and himself, by telling each of them that the other hated his guts. A great talent though.

Saw Jim Dale recently on The Paul O'Grady Show promoting his one man stage show, his appearance was notable for the fact that he said ( well, more mouthed ) the f word & the word 'p**s' on afternoon tv, for which O'Grady had to apologise. Dale is in remarkable health for his age.

I just watched that interview on youtube Arthur. I wish they could have talked a bit more about the Carry On films though. Jim Dale and Kenneth Williams are my two favourite Carry on stars.

His character in Carry On Abroad was the subject of one of the great lines:
Stupid what?

Yeah, I love Kenneth, His performances in the carry on films were better then the rest of the cast by far. Interesting point. Not sure I agree, but certainly his presence was a key ingredient.
E.g. 'Carry On Screaming' was none the worse without Sid.
Whereas 'Carry On Girls', although it had Sid, was lacking something without Kenneth.
