Worst news ever for Australian fans of Formula One ! The free to air live transmission of ten races per year on Channel Ten has been withdrawn this weekend with Pay Tv Foxtel now owning all tv rights to the races. So no races are viewable on tv here unless you commit to a pay tv package. No Malaysian F1 viewing by me tonight. Shame on you Channel Ten ( a channel that used to be the home of motor racing). They are allowing them to only broadcast the Australian race free to air. I'm in shock.

That's bad news Batgirl. Money wins the day again.
In the UK, only Sky TV have the rights to show all races in a year. ITV can only show alternate races. So basically, if you are a big fan of F1, you have to have a sky box. I would move to Virgin Media (as I have my broadband with them) but you can not get the Sky F1 channel - only the ITV channel.
A mixed bag today in the race with a not entirely unexpected result. More on this later when you've all had the chance to watch.
Gene.

That's bad news Batgirl. Money wins the day again................................................................................................................................................................................... Yes well it is the sport that is ruled by it. Shame really. If you read about early races like the Bruce McLaren and Jack Brabham days (I know there are English and European drivers of that ilk too but I don't know much about them) it was so different, more hands on for the drivers and less millions ! I was actually planning on not going to the March 2018 Aust. GP as I was going to overindulge with 3 days of tv watching of the live qualifying, interviews, walk around tracks etc. as I've never watched the Aussie one fully over the days on tv but hmm maybe I'll have to go again in order to actually see more than just the final day race. But enough of that, the Malaysian GP was a surprise result. Surely everyone has watched it by now. Just firstly how cool is Alonso. To the race - There must be nothing more frustrating than a non start like Kimi Raikkonen. What happened on Lap 4 ! Verstappen passed Hamilton and then that was it for him leading the race until the end. Amazing that he won the Malaysian GP last year too. Good third for Ricciardo and Hamilton received good points for his second result. Results Final 1 M. Verstappen Red Bull 2 L. Hamilton Mercedes 3 D. Ricciardo Red Bull 4 S. Vettel Ferrari 5 V. Bottas Mercedes 6 S. Pérez Force India 7 S. Vandoorne McLaren Honda 8 L. Stroll Williams· 9 F. Massa Williams 10 E. Ocon Force India· 11 F. Alonso McLaren Honda 12 K. Magnussen Haas 13 R. Mexico GP was quite a strange race with unexpected results. That start was bizarre with Vettel and Hamilton colliding. Max Verstappen winning, Bottas second and Raikkonen third and Vettel in the fourth position in Mexico ensuring that he cannot make up enough points to beat Lewis Hamilton for the year's title, as of course Lewis came 9th which was enough to be unbeatable. Congratulations Lewis. He certainly had harder competition than I first thought at the start of this racing year. Having a definite winner before Brazil and Abu Dhabi makes the races seem less important. I'll still watch them though (delay telecasts). Though based on news reports a lot is happening there !

Just read on Pistonheads that Alfa Romeo are making a return to F1, sounds like good news to me, especially considering that they won the Championship for the first two years in 1950 and 51 (with Fangio to boot!). It'll be interesting to see what developes. Villain

Similar situation regarding the Ashes, over here you need to have a costly subscription to Sky to watch live cricket, but now British Telecom have bought the rights to all Australian home cricket matches so if you want to watch the Ashes in the UK you're required to buy an 18 month contract to the BT Sports channel. Doesn't bother me particularly but my dad is a cricket fan who already pays about £800 a year mainly to watch cricket, expecting pensioners like him to subscribe to another package is unacceptable & disgraceful.
