Well, things are starting to move now for the 2017 Grand Prix season.
Speculation proved correct as we see Valtteri Bottas take over from Rosberg at Mercedes. Toto Wolff hinting that it is just a 1 year deal for Bottas with options open for 2018 and depending on his performance alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Meanwhile, the void left by Bottas over at Williams is being filled by Felipe Massa, who has done a U Turn on his retirement plans, again for just 1 season. This partners him with teenager Lance Stroll.

Yes Gene one of the few F1 rumours which was a dead cert! Probably a decent move for Bottas who's sort of become beached at Williams for the last couple of seasons... but being a #2 driver sometimes ends in tears when they start matching the performance of the star driver. Schumacher was bad enough but the prima Donna traits Hamilton (right or wrong) has could come back to haunt Mercedes this season if the two drivers end up even Steven's. I also hope Felipe has made a wise move going back to Williams as I reckon his retirement at the end of 2016 was about right for what he achieved and could give to F1. Maybe he's reinvigorated and may be a consistent top challenger but I think his best was around 2014-15 and fear he won't be anywhere near this level. Still he will be a very good teammate and mentor for Lance Stroll. So then Vettel, Fernando, Riccardo and Verstappen all stayed put. They and I think us fans hope their teams have got their acts together and give the Mercs some serious pressure this year and who knows make it a bit more interesting than the Mercedes processions we've had since 2014. Not long till Melbourne bring it on.

Thats a great article that explains Bernie's history with F1. Like the part that say F1 chases the highest paying deals always. Even though that means the sport has been filled with bland tracks at the expense of the classics. F1 really is in danger of killing itself through greed. Silverstone recently said that the £17 million payout needed to stage the race meant it is starting to become unviable.

See it's game over for Manor now. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38772098One thing I did notice here is they only needed £500k to honour their testing commitments for the 2017 season. Also as mentioned in the comments section on the BBC site surprised the larger teams haven't thought of rescuing Manor and using it as a B Team like Red Bull do with Toro Rosso. It's going to be challenge for F1's new owners over the next couple of years to keep teams, circuits, the show and most importantly fans happy with what's on offer certainly won't be easy to achieve.

I see Seb's had a bit of a smash in testing with Ferrari the other day. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38931000I think after last season's woes for the Prancing Horse and more so Vettel himself probably the last thing they needed prior to getting things underway for the new season.

The new cars should be released soon. The launches seem to get later every year. A lot of them used to be in January I seem to recall.
