I love the part where Basil gives his car a damn good thrashing with a tree branch! Steed

I've voted for the psychiatrist, after watching it again last night. It is very hard to choose a favourite from so many excellent episodes. Wouldn't be great if all the cast were in their prime again and they could do a west end stage production of Fawlty Towers. How fantastic that would be.

Very difficult to choose but I opted for Gourmet Night. Thrashing the car always has me in tears of laughter. Second choice would have been Waldorf Salad: "Sorry, we're fresh out of Waldorfs!"

Fawlty Towers was and is a fabulous comedy. One of the best sitcoms ever,no doubt about it.I always feel though that with there only being 12 episodes I have absolutely watched it to death, and whenever it is repeated on TV I find myself switching channels.Every episode is a winner-and I mean every episode. So there is probably something to be said for doing so few episodes so as not to overcook the programme, but on the flipside there are so few to watch that, for me,I feel as though I've seen enough to last me a long time.
The Germans is a fave,as is Gourmet Night.I also like The Anniversary, out of all of the episodes that is maybe the least watched. :D

Went for The Kipper and The Corpse but all 12 could have got my vote!

I believe John Cleese and Connie Booth were divorced sometime after the first series, and eventually wrote and performed in the second series about four years later. I wonder if they had stayed married would they done another couple of series ? Pity they broke up, especially for John's financial security, when you consider how he was taken to the cleaners in the divorce courts, by one or two of his subsequent wives.

That was my first choice, that line cracks me up every time as well!

Very hard to pick a favourite episode as one of my all time favourite programmes. The only episode I didn't think was quite up to the standard of the others was the Anniversary in series 2 in my opinion. Still good though, but the others were great

I see John Cleese has now resurrected the car beating scene from the show in an ad for Specsavers; it just doesn't work second time around does it??

Yes indeed Dick. It was discussed elsewhere on the forum a while back.
Fawlty Car Ad
Not everyone was impressed by it, but it is still amusing.
