I see John Cleese has now resurrected the car beating scene from the show in an ad for Specsavers; it just doesn't work second time around does it?? I'm not too impressed by the ad either, but I know that John had to pay a hefty settlement, in his American divorce case a few years back. I was reading recently that the original idea for the car beating stunt came from the producer of Fawly Towers, who related the story of the late english actor, Robert Newton who was of course an alcholic. Apparently, Newton beat his car on several occasions, when it broke down while he was under the influence. Anyway, thats what I read, not sure if it's true.

Yes indeed Dick. It was discussed elsewhere on the forum a while back.
Fawlty Car Ad
Not everyone was impressed by it, but it is still amusing.
My apologies for that Gene; hadn't realised it had already been covered. Don't know why but it doesn't work now; yes Bronson I heard John Cleese had a big divorce bill too; not the first time either for him!!

I voted for The Kipper and the Corpse. This was the first programme my Dad ever recorded on our brand new top loader video

Don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but the hotel that inspired the series "The Gleneagles" in in Torquay closed down for re development just before Christmas, and I was planning to go there last year (Didnt get round to it) as during the summer months they used to have a Faulty Towers tribute interactive dinner every Saturday night - Gutted I did not make it!!!!!

Apparently the actual hotel in Torquay were John Cleese got the idea of creating Fawlty Towers is soon to be demolished. That's according to a newspaper headline I noticed earlier today. Bronson.

They're all good to me, it's a close call, never tire of watching them, but a guess the wedding party is a must! It's hilarious and a very fast pace lol

Just be re-watching these again on DVD after a bit of a break and noticed the hospital at the begining of The Germans is Northwick Park Hospital a long way from Torquay in North West London. Also the audio commentaries suggest many of series 1's location work (Andre's Restaurant, Basil's Austin 1300 Trashing...) was done nearby in the Kenton area so if I can ID/get around to it may take a few shots and put them on here too.
