A gripping episode. Some of the scenes are quite remarkable, e.g. the long-running one-take with Iris Long in the flat. And the bar-room fight.

Yeah it's a good episode but goes a bit slapstick when Jack teeters and then falls in the rainwater, on the roof - all a bit daft for a second. Nice shot of a packet of Players No 6 on the bar at the end too

I like this episode. I've watched it a couple of times recently. It was on the bank jobs DVD if anyone remembers it. Bank jobs and car chases were the first episodes I got on DVD and I watched Night out a fair few times.
I agree there are a few comedy moments in it, as Warm Jag said, the bit on the roof when jack lands in the puddle, you can actually see it isn't him falling in the water and how the stunt man prepares himself for the fall, you can tell it wasn't an accident lol.
I like the old geezer, uncle Albert I call him who answers the phone on the stairs and says someone's after a copper, an Inspector Regal, it's a classic. I also find him funny when they usher him off downstairs and he says, but the Gents is upstairs.
It is a bit slapstick in parts but still an enjoyable episode.
Does anyone think the voice on the two way radio sounds like Charlie Smith from Big Spender ?

Yes, I'm sure it's Godfrey James from 'Big Spender''s voice on the radio.
I noticed a couple of things watching the episode in HD. When the mirror on the stairs is smashed next to Regan & he ducks down there's a jump cut when he stands up again, ie. it wasn't done in one take. Near the end Derrick O'Connor accidentally catches the guy next to him on the head with his gun & rubs it for him momentarily, it doesn't look like it was scripted.

I noticed that too Arthur when that mirror gets smashed, it does seem like it was cut. I think the mirror has Worthington on it ?
The part just before that when the fight breaks out, the big bloke who takes a swing at George with a pint glass in his hand, misses and hits the stair banister, That's got to hurt !
Was that Nosha Powell I noticed among the fighters ?
Never noticed that bit towards the end, I'll have to look out for that.

Yes Nosher Powell, also another less familiar stuntman/extra from tv & film Terry Plummer in the green jumper & one of the men beating Carter up in the alley is Rocky Taylor. I had a zoom in on the beer tap in the 'morning after' scene & there's a sticker on it that reads 'Harp Lager 1- 28p, 1/2- 14p'

I thought it was him Arthur.
I hadn't heard of the others you mentioned so I did a bit of googling. Rocky Taylor, the oldest stuntman in britain, did a lot of work on Bond films and is the original Honey Monster.
Terry Plummer has worked on a few things too by the looks of it. Was his Character in Night out, Don Sharples do you know Arthur ? He was also in the film Sexy Beast with Ray Winstone, another film I've seen a few times, not recently though.
It's great to know about the stuntmen that worked on the Sweeney.
Regarding the Beer, I don't think Jack was too impressed with how the landlord kept the beer in that pub lol.I used to drink Harp Lager years ago but it wasn't that cheap. It seems to have disappeared now.
Thanks Arthur:thumbup:
