Funny you mention that about the Micra. The back box of that thing dropped off and you'll never guess where..... On the drive at Thorneley Manor. Gene. Did you cut a handle of the Wheelbarrow and wire tie it on ? Sounded like a cherry bomb You're not that far off the mark with that. In the yard where the wheelbarrow was, there just happened to be a bit of rebar and tie wire left over from building work so did actually use a bit of tie wire to fashion a temporary fix that allowed me to get home. Still sounded like a Spitfire though all the way home! Gene.

Interesting ad. Who knew it was marketed as Austin Morris? I suppose if you opted for it with Morris badges the trim was different ? I didn't think these were Front wheel drive. Thought the Maxi was the one that had that and that it was fairly new tech. Lastly for a big six pot engine the output figures are woeful. Bet they were worse than claimed here in reality.

One of our teachers at secondary school had one. I think they came out in 72 so were a development of a BMC car after the British Leyland take over. The radiator was at the front, rather than at the side, as on the 1800

Ford Corsair V4 anyone? Gene. I do like a Corsair and the V4 was a good engine for the time many ex-owners have told me. Fitted across the Ford range I believe. I'd almost forgotten about this clever ad.... I remember this ad ,clever as you say. I think I'd be in trouble with the Mrs for shouting Cleo not Sarah Nice one

I seem to recall a catchy jingle that went with the You can't help smiling when you drive a Citroen 2CV advert, but it doesn't seem to be on YouTube. Maybe it was a radio ad. Here's the 80s print version:- It's a little known fact that if you owned a light blue 2CV in the early 80s, it was compulsory to display a sticker with either Nuclear Power - No Thanks or Windsurfers Do It Standing Up on the back bumper. I think it was a condition of insurance. (I might have made that last bit up).
