I think that is the case Del as 3L says. Anglias are still popular in the classic Ford scene, as well as some standard ones about but to also soup up, as many were, when they were cheaper secondhand cars by the 70's onwards, as new or younger secondhand Escorts may have been too expensive for younger drivers then.
Interesting too that Ford were still promoting the Anglia in its last year of production as prototype MK1 Escorts were already running by then and the launch of that car was due at the start of 1968. The Anglia's style with the tail fins and reverse rake rear window were quite old fashioned by the late 60's and hard back to the previous decade.
The Rover is probably meant to be in a similar colour to the one in "The Man Who Haunted Himself" driven by Harold Pelham. Lovely quality cars!

Yes Gerry, the US influence suddenly came an end in the mid to late 60's didn't it, wonder what triggered it?
Maybe it was just that the US was moving away from fins etc and we followed.
In which case they did still influence us ................
I'll get me coat.

Most post war British cars were US influenced, BMC broke away from it a bit with their Italian designed Farina cars at the end of the 50s, the US influence seemed to give way to more European styles in the late 70s.

Yeah, I would say American trends were still influencing British car styling after the late 50's, and moved with the times through the 60's and into the 70's. The straighter cleaner lines evident in the 60's American cars were carried over to the Fords and Vauxhalls in the UK and to a lesser extent Rootes/Chrysler UK.
Also right to the end of the decade with the FD Victor and a little later the MK3 Cortina influenced by the "Coke Bottle" shaped US Cars, in production at the same time across the pond with the 2 companies American owners. A lot of that was some of the same stylists working for the "Big 3" US Car gaints, travelled over to the UK and Europe (not to mention the Australian branches) to style the different countries cars.
As Cartman mentions, BMC went their own way at the time with an Italian look from Pinninfaria, Triumph too went with the Italian looks, albeit with another stylist - Michelotti.

Nice find that Gene. I remember when the Transit got that restyle around '83-'84 I think they gave it a final push before the new style Transit came out in '85.
Here’s a selection of dealer adverts from over the decades which I think haven't been posted before. Interestingly probably a lot of these dealers have been swallowed up by the big dealer mergers (i.e Trust Ford, Arnold Clark, Lookers etc.) that have happened since the mid '80's on.
Anchor Ford
Bentleys of Sheffield
Bristol Street Motors
Brooklands Motor Company Ltd / Lex Brooklands
Chatfields
DC Cook
GT Cars
Hanger Ford
Hawthorne Engineering Company
Hollingdrake Automobile Co. Ltd
JB Hepburn Ltd
Macharg Rennie & Lindsay Ltd
Lees Garage
Quicks for Ford
Patterson Ford - for the Auf Pet fans this dealer featured on the shot of the bus at Newcastle Airport in Return of the Seven Part 1.
Peat Road Motors
Peter Marwood
Polar Ford
TC Harrison
The Beadle Garage
The West London Citroen Centre
Walkers Garage
WB Motor Company
Windmill Motors
Wood & Pickett Ltd
Wooton Wawen Garage
Here's a final Triumph on too which was not car dealer related, hope it's not been posted before. Enjoy!
