I've been saying the same thing to Jamie for years but still they come; super skinny, carrot, standard skinny, stretch skinny. Just die already! Did you mean to say carrot? Regrettably Alex, yes. To save the rest of you poor souls, I have not added a link here but if you must, use google and may god have mercy on your soul.

I always wanted a bmx, had to settle for a Raleigh Bomber. I remember those thin glasses & deeley boppers which is one of the few crazes that are still around. Also moon boots, who had a pair of them for the winter? Kappa jackets, Farah slacks, slip on shoes, shoes with laces on the side, wedge & step haircuts, it's all coming back to me I have to admit to having all of the above including the haircut. The slip on shoes for men, in white, with little tassles dangling from the middle, like these i.etsystatic.com/14350589/r/il/7d5103/2434627556/il_794xN.2434627556_2xnf.jpg

That sounds more like an admission! Sam. Ha ha!
This lock down goes on any longer, by the end of it, my hair will be a Pat Sharpe esq Mullet.
It'll look more like the 70s, everyone will have long hair!
I used to think his hair was cool

I grew my hair quite long & had a home perm in the late 80's I was into thrash metal at the time.
Hope you still are. Fab genre! \m/

I remember them "Stu Stu Stu Studio line" adverts too all the time.............
Other brand names being bandered about were DiaDora, Fila, and Lacoste, and I had trainers from Hi-Tec, Adidas and Converse.
This one? (reminds me of Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan... Chaka Chaka Chaka"....
I love 80s advertsing. Some epics, Cinema Advertising is another thread on it's own.
Am a retro geek - else I wouldn't be part of this forum - and old adverts is my passion, from the 80s particularly but from the 50s to 95. After that, things started going downhill a lot. In more ways than one for me.

I have loved going through this thread. Fab stuff mentioned here. What pops out at me most, 80s wise - I was born in 79 but have a passion for all things 80s - is things like
Fluro-coloured cycle shorts (late is 80s)
The craze for Bermuda shorts in wacky colours - again mostly fluro
Thinking Timmy Mallett was funny - I was only about 7 at the time
Head bags - someone bought me a pink/purple one and I only used it when I had no other option as I am not a pink girlie at all
Filofax's - I have one now from a couple of years ago which is not vintage sadly
Brick like mobile phones
Cordless telephones
Polaroid camera Sun 600 - which my gorgeous hubby bought me for xmas about 4 or so years ago and that is original 80s vintage and works I charm even though I am shit at using it
Wonderful adverts which were full of warmth and humour - especially the one that advertised Scotch video tapes, I still love that dancing Skelly and his gorgeous wee birdie mate!
Jelly shoes and jelly bags (it's a girl thing)
The Coca Cola yo-yo craze - and if you managed to get the gold one, you were someone cool in school
The ITV for schools pre-programme jingle - esp the bit that starts 1min in this video
Being scared by the News at Ten dongs
Watching Weekend World and On The Record with my late Grandparents, the latter being particularly fascinating because of Big Ben being turned into a crocodile
The fab artwork on blank video tape boxes
And for now, last but not least, That's Life! I still miss that! Great theme and I was always fascinated by the wee cartoon at the end, especially.

The ITV for schools pre-programme jingle - esp the bit that starts 1min in this video That music and graphics package was brought in for Autumn 1987 - when schools programmes moved from ITV to Channel 4.
The music used for the interlude was called "The Journey", the music used on the 1 minute countdown I think was called "Just a Minute" - both pieces were composed especially by James Aldernham. All schools programmes were networked from Central TV in Birmingham - and they were responsible for the presentation of them.
Prior to moving the Channel 4, the presentation was very similar - though a little more mechanical. Interludes were accompanied by 35mm slides of various topics, and the clock was a mechanical rotating shutter affair - all accompanied by Library Music - many pieces would become very well known. The mechanical clock used to go belly up on air - it would sometimes stick mid-way, rewind on air or not bother at all.

Hope you still are. Fab genre! \m/ Yeah, I still listen to it when I'm in the mood, I've been listening to Prong a lot lately, if they can be called thrash. Metallica were my favourite band at the time though I lost interest in them in the early 90's.
