I went to the supermarket late today & treated anyone that came near like Charlie Pearce, a social leper
Another idea would be to not wash, then you wouldn't have to make any effort to keep the next person 2 feet away.

No keeping your distance there! It'll be the same today. There has been mixed information given by the Press / Government - when the School closures were announced last week, we were told that we could still go out for walks, not in large groups and National Trust did away with entrance fees. So as in the UK - a bit of sunshine, and everyone goes out. I think the "fresh air" thing makes many people think that they are suddenly immune - and forgetting the fact that not only them, but another 15,000 people have also had the same idea too - and leap in their cars.
We ordered a takeaway last night, you have to order online, pay by card, and they will drop the food at the front door. (No Contact). Personally, I can see Boris & Co putting stricter rules on our movements. I hope they don't - but they may be forced to. Now the pubs are closed, there is now panic buying of booze.... Also - electrical suppliers have reported a sharp rise in the purchase of Chest Freezers too... Some people are making money out of all this...

I trust they won't stop people going for a walk to exercise, not least for those who have dogs (not that we have). Some people need to go to work otherwise the people in the shops will run out of fuel, stock, spares and repairs for their equipment, broadcasting would stop etc etc. I know they are trying to get a policy that doesn't swamp the NHS, you need a middle ground that achieves that but lets the environment around them work to service society. Tricky I know. If you overdo it society could start to breakdown. Need to ramp up hospital beds, equipment etc which is what they are trying to do.

Total bell ends. I went to our local shop this afternoon. No rush to get there. No camping out 2 hours before they open. Not a soul in when I entered, shelves fully stocked. Came out with 2 bags of essentials. Total - 5 minutes. Job done. No panic. GH. Yes, I did the same. Apart from bog and kitchen roll my local shop was well stocked with food and other items... fortunately No need to panic buy folks! Vi

I had to work a train in and out of London the other day, travelling down on the cushions the train was almost empty and the station car parks at Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard, Tring, Berkhampstead, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Watford Junction barely had a dozen vehicles in them, yet once I'd relieved the train at Wembley Yard and headed down towards Battersea via Kensington Olympia and Imperial Wharf every road I could see from the line was full of normal traffic and pedestrians, it was quite bizarre. It was the same again later in the day coming back with the empty wagons.

I think the majority of people are being responsible, the trouble is it only takes a few thousand irresponsible people to pass the virus on. If you look at it as a numbers game, which it is, it doesn't look good. It's only levelling out in countries that have locked down completely. Problem is, unless you're affected by it personally or you're at the coalface dealing with patients, I don't think the seriousness of it registers.
For every person who has lost their business or job, there are far more who are lucky enough to just ride it out, this & the fact that most people who get it don't suffer badly & don't die is very problematic, creating an 'I'm alright Jack' mindset that leads to complacency & resentment.

Vi I visted out local shop this morning at 9, the shelves were already empty. The shop owner told me that he had people (Elderly) knocking on his door with the morning paper delivery. They all came in, filled their bags...
He has to run the shop, so can't get to the Cash & Carry. I have offered to go for him.

One thing I don't think anyone gets are these reports of kids spitting on food in supermarkets, spitting & abusing police & emergency services & ambulance tyres being slashed. I used to read of kids harassing fire fighters & wondered why the hell they'd do it, but at a time like this what do you do with these kids? And what if it catches on across the country with them all off school for months?
