Not a fan of his 'zany' comedy myself but I noticed that 'The Kenny Everett Video Show' from 1979 is on 'That's TV' ( Freeview channel 7 ) in back to back episodes from 8pm til 1am.
Probably will be of more interest due to the appearance of various bands/artists of the era including Thin Lizzy, Roxy Music, Darts, David Essex, Squeeze, David Bowie, Moody Blues, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, etc.
Percy Thrower turns up in one episode.
Kenny's 'Video Show' hasn't been on for a fair while don't know whether there's been any outside issues (probably not to do with Kenny) preventing it being shown say in the 2013-18 period but the last time I knew it was on was on Granada Plus early '00's.
Personally didn't mind/enjoyed it but wouldn't go out of my way to watch it these days... his later BBC stuff felt a bit stifled and bit toned down compared to these Thames series. When this did go out it was pre-watershed right as it does sail close a few times.
Hope I can get this 'That's TV' channel my reception is... I used to watch Kenny when he was on ITV. From memory it was either half seven or 8 o clock, so pre watershed, yes, although so was Benny Hill and he pushed it a bit too. Agree the later BBC ones were a bit blander

I have always personally felt that, during the 70s, the classics which are well regarded and well remembered were on the BBC, Fawlty Towers, Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads, Porridge etc, Dads Army too, although I appreciate it wasn't everyones cup of tea, but the acting in it I always thought was good.
In contrast I always thought that ITVs efforts were mediocre at best, with the solitary exception of the excellent Rising Damp.
Thoughts anyone? I get the impression that the BBC at the time were more old skool and lived off this British stiff upper lip image compared to ITV, then as time went on, the gap was not as broad, like when ya had the likes of The Benny Hill show, which I'm Sure all the Mary Whitehouse supporters thought it was filth! I also think when Channel 4 suddenly popped up, that influenced a lot of tele programs and the content in general, and so eventually the BBC stricter, tighter routine would eventually mellow a bit.. I think the BBC really did rely on more genteel humour at one point when ITV were being just a tad more anarchic...
Having said that there were still a few BBC comedies that were a bit dicey (by todays standards anyway)!! Alf Garnett wasn't exactly the purest of chaps after all...

Comedy was just great back then, let alone TV in general.. The youth of today don’t know what they’re missing lol! Majority of it today is reality Tv and social media to keep them busy
