Remember when we had "Proper" idents on TV back in the 60's, 70's & 80's ?
Some of these overlap the decades so I'm putting them in the 70's section.
ATV 1969-1981
Thames Television
London Weekend Television 1978
Yorkshire Television
Harlech Television
I'll post some more when I get chance

This subject satisfies the nerd in me  I prefer those old idents compared to the modern computer generated ones  They certainly gave TV plenty of character My Fav is LWT as its always been my local region. The flow out of the L W and T was supposed to represent the river Thames. Second is Thames Television I remember all of those idents. You rarely saw the HTV and ATV ones down here in London. |

You rarely saw the HTV and ATV ones down here in London. Of course, ATV became Central TV in January 1982 so is probably more familiar to viewers |

Yes Vienna you're right the Central ident is much more familiar. That was often seen on programs in the London area. Surprised Central was formed in 1982 though, thought it was more mid 80s.

Great thread,this.I remember the ATV one,the Thames TV one,LWT,and the Central idents.Living in Nottingham the Central ones were on all the time.I only live about 2 miles from the old Central TV studios.It's still there but now re-named 'Carlton TV'.
