Like the car, and the colour, but not those whitewall tyres. Agree on the number plates too. Yep, agree. Never liked whitewalls, not on a Jag anyway.

This 1972 Series 1 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 Auto looks like excellent value if it's as good as it looks - the 'Wolfrace' style alloys might not be everyone's cup of tea but they can be easily replaced, gorgeous colour combo too... www.carandclassic.com/l/C1778628This 1973 Series 1 Jag XJ6 4.2 Auto looks great value too with lots of work done and history from new, the only thing I'd do to it straight away would be to fit correct yellow / white / raised black digit number plates to finish it off nicely... www.carandclassic.com/l/C1782504You don't see many Jag 420s in Cotswold Blue with the manual 'box so this ex-South African car is quite a rarity, priced accordingly too I'd say if it's all kosher underneath (a dark blue interior would certainly be the icing on the cake)... www.carandclassic.com/l/C1777072This tidy looking 1967 Rover P6 2000TC looks like a great starter classic at the asking price and the optional wire wheels and colour combo are very attractive... www.carandclassic.com/car/C1781984Villain

Some superb bits of British automotive steel there Villain, I agree the blue 420 and blue Sovereign are particularly nice and the Rover looks excellent value and an eye catcher too.

The last editions of the Capri were really something. They saved the best until last.

Pity about the leaper on the bonnet but this early (first year of production) Series 1 Jag XJ6 looks like great value, looking closely at the photos the panel gaps are remarkably good too... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226384150573?itmmeta=01J9CDSBN1RB2KMHFZS9204GS7&hash=item34b58c002d:g:~4IAAOSwzOlm~7GB&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29gfQMuz2F0PsYqIPqsCygYIs3rDcbwo1xfduzPhCHK8vOmIoqLfOQCZ1w4i4o5h2DIJUi%2BrSKQZXBbn5FIcUqFSUGScHJMtawxHZCGQALo9HFkz0rD6H8%2FX0KfXhGXPZEMmrozn8mwKsVjy1A3meBgm3SNA5brj%2FAyjkehwPl9%2BcM%2Bzguw6XtxLSiM1oHkwX6LF4BoHmeQisDPj03tb21M7fe%2F5eTlGh3xYi4W3l92It69o%2FpPRXWEtPyLpp6FQgb7n24TiaBAG%2FXzODxbIRS6v%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8q65Y3LZAFor anyone brave enough to take on twelve cylinders of svelte loveliness this early Series 2 Daimler Double Six could be a relative bargain, these V12s need using regularly to keep them trouble free, bidding starts at £6k with no reserve... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226381413237?itmmeta=01J9CDZTC1BHFDA9CNBY9QN9KR&hash=item34b5623b75:g:8H4AAOSwseVm9Cge&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29hrSb0O57N%2BEYFvofD7LBFKu4h3pDnofF%2F2zjPLBQRFj7DlvteUexE6G%2BNEfuUcZI0KeK3zpRcyyg9dEjdxJo6Dnub%2BhHiZtExxdOe%2FcSq3P7dRA0dSCITmmMcn6eNaC3PbV8P7tvGOyN3dIj5H15sjk9wsmnLoI0u49wkWXp0Myxr7UOwyda9jhg254DwGRJsWMnz6RK4PoStm5UMnYCorDl8mmLf4nzO2THajm1jotNbhJX0WcRSlgTq%2BITBQYXgGMTlSwzLvSf6091oX%2B0l4%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4im_43LZAA later Series 3 Daimler Double Six for a portion of fish and chips under £9k, with bags of executive waft for about half the price of a non rusty Mk1 Mini 850 or Cooper 998 (bonkers isn't it?)... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126614335823?itmmeta=01J9CDZTC164NV0ECDF6NQAWCC&hash=item1d7acd714f:g:heIAAOSwTXpms6Jx&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29g4nhIcPtSEj3lR6b7GlTDDXPTdv1Ux%2FmfLgARlt0Gb9cGOlNLFMZ%2FWsqqgLWkQ4LLVCqGV5jfCX3Pn2vGEHzMfhQevqKFtiZ64wzXUokkVUOOJgSFZecg4u%2BJgIQlXgJYjrg%2F1KBlHBq%2F1gZWHNY8mr3zEWQJsUqP86R3A5i8lJeD0ybciN6I6Zz6wEQAy7S6G64ogwwHF988w1Ckxq8eNl2Q0M3fvB6iWWHHVcRSfx3b70Q4qJtfTZ%2By0S5Ae7mFA3jjh3%2FEK0BQjLmlVDwhO%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4im_43LZAThe same vendor still has this 1975 Series 2 Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas, the '80s style sunroof might put a few buyers off but it's a rare old bird being one of 1,176 built, unusual in white too as most VDPs were painted in the more fruity metallic colours of the period... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126669317154?itmmeta=01J9CDZTC2SSVBTCG7DR39W279&hash=item1d7e146422:g:Vt0AAOSwwjFk25sf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwMxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29iMFng3mpU6syhc2K%2FA8okOXZXbBYlE2ZwoyTa43%2FK1%2FPtad31QmDDxjWO2iFRH74t6l8pTI1iCMzFwXRvQW054slrLAbbXu4%2FW8dc4KYDpnGaoaZ3CgMKSup8dGCYx%2FMLzoWkKDgyVcy3gAm9G0XbR2TSyL0xyKmkun7O4JPAsUd27Wbdmruw9DIriyG%2F5lUmw8C7GXvMC6xsUl3tZyl4Ud5jkV12QiBPNZsjiVs3hQg%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4qm_43LZAAnother potential value for money example here with this very tempting low mileage 1974 Series 2 Daimler Double Six in the lovely period shade of Lavender... www.carandclassic.com/l/C1767246The bold but factory correct colour combination of heather with a cerise interior makes this 1973 Series1 Jag XJ6 extremely rare (it's probably one of the last S1s made) so this one is a true survivor, in the flesh the colour is actually slightly darker than it is in the advert pic... www.carandclassic.com/l/C1754761Although not for sale, this eight year old clip of another heather coloured Series 1 in the US gives a good idea of what it looks like on the road, it's sheer presence is undeniable... Watching some choice '70s TV shows and films over the last couple of weeks has got me looking at these fine Jags and Daimlers again, at least it's stopped me looking at Rover P5Bs and P6s for a while .

Hmmm the pink jag looks like a road going version of a popular 70s bathroom hue. It is unique mind. Was there an Avacado one in the set ?

Lovely cars there, the V12 engines would scare me re maintenance but I bet they drive very smoothly if in good nick.
Sadly the '73 oil crisis had a bad effect on such large engined cars, which was not long after the V12 appeared in the E Type and XJ.

Hmmm the pink jag looks like a road going version of a popular 70s bathroom hue. It is unique mind. Was there an Avacado one in the set ? They did an avocado-ish colour called 'juniper green' during the run of the Series 2 XJs and Daimlers and you could order it with a moss green interior which in the flesh was very suave looking, believe it or not! There was also a more mustardy paint colour available called 'greensand' and another greener shade called 'fern green', both of which looked the part. This S2 Daimler Sovereign is in juniper green... This Jag XJ6 Coupe (the 'Wheeler Dealers' car) is in fern green... This Jag XJ12 Coupe is in greensand... Villain.
