The Capone Investment which is being repeated on TPTV is also going for fairly high money IMHO, the best one I've seen on amazon is for nearly £40. It's good but not that good. Wow, I gave that one away. It really isn’t very good in my opinion.

Wow, I gave that one away. It really isn’t very good in my opinion. I've watched the recent repeats and it's okay if a bit slow paced probably a bit like what IKM might have had The Sweeney like if it hadn't have gone down a much different route and John Thaw is very good in it, with some Regan-esqe qualities. For me it's a notch below say Budgie, Hazell etc. but still not bad overall. The TPTV repeats are full episodes and near enough as good as I'd get with the DVD too.

Interesting clip Arthur! I didn't realise that it was also filmed in Brummie land! I Must tell CG, I'm sure she'll be intrigued since it's her neck of the woods. I've been meaning to buy more of Public eye' it's a great series! at the mo I've got 71' 72-73 & 75. Just had a look on eBay and someone is selling the 72-73 box set for £150! Crazy stuff! Dunno why the individual boxsets are so much! GC, Series 2 and 3 were both set in Birmingham. Sadly, as with a lot of other B&W shows from the 1960s, most of the episodes were just transmitted once then wiped to clear up storage space. Chris Perry from Kaleidoscope, the Midlands based organisation that recovers lost TV, has said in interviews that finding 'lost' Public Eye episodes is probably what he would want most. Vi

I think the same happened to Z cars' they used be about 700 episodes apparently, now there's just an handful! Shame, I could watch Z cars every day of the week!

I got the two dvd box set and have watched other full episodes on YouTube. It really is very enjoyable and Bert Lynch is now one of my TV cult heroes. I particularly enjoyed the last episode, Troy Kennedy Martins irreverent story works in this setting whereas his episodes in The Sweeney are a little out of kilter with the rest of the series. I note that TKM’s last episode has more than a touch of social commentary about it, perhaps saying where the country was at and where it had travelled from during the course of the series. I think you can spot a lot of this in late 1970s telly ie the country is at a crossroads, tired, broken etc.

One buyer here paid £150 for a dvd set of 1 series only- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253622514580?epid=72512144&hash=item3b0d147394:g:DwUAAOSwklJa-Z0WA 'like new' box set of 'A Box Named Frank' sold for £50 whilst a sealed 'new' version sold for £150 both on May 8th & both within an hour of each other. Basically the buyer who paid £150 ( unless they intend selling it for more ) paid £100 more for the privilege of removing some cellophane Arthur I Finally managed to get an opened but apparently unwatched 1969 series Box set of Public eye! this morning for £31.50! Including postage, from EBay!

Just started watching the 1969 series, and John Bindon- Sid Fletcher from Get Carter was in the first episode Welcome to Brighton! Playing a builder! then I get on to the 2nd episode Divide and Conquer, and there's a dodgy biker character, as soon as he starts talking, I thought I recognise that twang, and it turns out to be Terrence Rigby- Gerald Fletcher, how ironic!

I'm glad you're enjoying it, GC! In Series 4 (1969) Frank Marker is released from prison on parole and settles in Brighton. He stays at a guesthouse run by Mrs Mortimer, who is rather keen on him... Mrs Mortimer's guest house in New Steine, Kemptown, Brighton THEN NOW Vi
