One Weller song from the 90s I do like is You do something for me, from the album Stanley Road. Yeah that one was good Carty , but the rest of Weller's stuff from that period was a mix of pedestrian Indie and 60's Mod which for me didn't really go anywhere, still at it's worst it is half decent but just not radical for me.

Turning the thread slightly on its head, how about songs which shouldn't really be your bag, but, for some reason you like?
I can't stand country and western music, I think it's awful, but one or two by Dolly Parton I like, Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the stream. Another one which wouldn't really be my cup of tea is Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, but for some reason I like it, it's haunting and I like the backing track

I'm not a fan of C & W either, but loved Need You Now by Lady Antebellum a few years ago, although it did strike a resemblance to Eye In The Sky by Alan Parsons. I'm not a sports fan and football songs never appealed to me - the ones with a squad chanting out of tune lyrics, sometimes with the help of the likes of Chas and Dave etc. However I did buy World In Motion by England/New Order back in 1990 which I thought was a great single, despite not actually watching any of the 1990 World Cup.

For some reason I don't like Ain't no doubt by Jimmy Nail. Might be an unpopular opinion!😀

For some reason I don't like Ain't no doubt by Jimmy Nail. Might be an unpopular opinion!😀 Not an unpopular opinion with me. Jimmy's a fantastic actor, but his singing voice.. well, being kind, it must be an acquired taste.

Big River was a great track though, and well sung to be fair.

For some reason I don't like Ain't no doubt by Jimmy Nail. Might be an unpopular opinion!😀 I found Jimmy to be a bit hit and miss, Love Don't Live Here Anymore was okay but for me a bit tarnished because I had some, er, 'fond' memories of the Rose Royce version as Annie and I had only been together for around six months when that came out... Ain't No Doubt was okay, Crocodile Shoes I thought was a bit naff and a bit of a cash-in on the TV series, but as Gene mentioned Big River was a great track and it would appear a bit emotive for JN. I did buy Annie his CD The Nail File but after a few plays it was consigned to the cupboard and has been rarely played since. Sam.

Big River was a great track though, and well sung to be fair. Gene. Agree with others Jimmy Nail's singing career is hit & miss and a bit Marmite. For me I probably wouldn't care for it if there wasn't the acting connections but a few decent surprises like Big River. Big River has been on the BBC Four repeat of TOTP 1995 tonight should be on iPlayer/catch up if you want to see it.
