Apparently John Lennon was also a big fan of Scalextric having a large layout in his attic in his property at Weybridge. According to the link below Ringo, who only lived a mile away, and George would visit to join in the racing: >>> John Lennon - Scalextric <<<I just wonder why famous people such as John Lennon and the likes of Rod Stewart with his trains choose to hide them away in their attics? If I had a mansion (or two) like they do/did then I'd be using one of the many spare rooms for a large track. Sam.

I've just been looking through the new range of Scalextric proposed for 2023 and was very interested to see that they propose to build the FAB1 from Thunderbirds. I have a couple of plastic kits that are just one of my 'projects' that I was going to design and 3D print a chassis for so thought that the new model would save me a job. But then I saw the rendering: To me the rendering is all to cock. If they manufacture based on that then it will be a shocker. The radiator grill is far too steep an angle and the roofline is too high, amongst many other details. I've pre-ordered one for myself but I think I'll be keeping the plastic kits in reserve. Sam.

Doesn't look great in the rendering. The above version looks like Thunderbirds would on a modern CGI remake, rather than the sixties version. Could be worse I suppose, look at the Batmobile

Yes, doesn't look quite right does it, like a cartoon version of the real thing.

😀 Triang, in the 60s, did do a Skalextric type car racing range called Minic, and they did a combination track of both slot car and railway on the one track section

It seems that Brett and Danny enjoyed playing with their Scalextric (in French of course)...!! Oh yes I remember it well but recorded it in English. This clearly has some Gallic overdubbing for the French distribution. It must be said that Danny was not particularly good with the race car. As a typical yank his idea of motorsport was large ovals such as Indianapolis where learning the track was simple : flat out down the straight, turn left, flat out down the straight, turn left, lap complete. Give him a circuit with right hand bends and complex curves he'd lose direction. Lord B.
