Thought I'd start a new thread for photos relating to scenes involving cars in times gone by. I'll start it off with a scene that was common in the old days. The sight of someone fixing his car while still parked on the roadside. I'm sure we've all seen this before - especially with Marinas!

Well whatever he was doing he kept it on the road until about '89!
Not that I've got a picture of of it, but patching holes in the bodywork with fibreglass.

Pieces of left over aluminium sheet and self tapping screws were also useful for body repairs.
Another bodge I did once was mending the exhaust on my mark 1 Escort with a tin, which in a previous existence had contained baked beans. Cut both ends off the tin so it was a cylinder, then cut along one side of the cylinder, and wrap it round the damaged bit of exhaust, then secure it with two jubilee clips! Hey presto, mended😁

Actually, I've only just noticed that the bloke may not have been working on the car after all. He may well have been reversed over if the length and shape of his right leg are anything to go by...

How about this from the days you were supposed to go easy on a new car for the first 500 miles or so ?
