Slim pickings there in my opinion. Only really Slade that I liked to be honest. Definite downward spiral by now, musically.

Culture Club ,Victims ... Bloody hell this video is a bit naff. Looks like George is on a crap ghost train This track is a break away from the sound of their previous offerings, not as catchy as their other stuff. But it's not a bad effort. Yeah not a bad track for CC as you say Del but reckon this was the beginning of Boy George's foray into smack. Even the track itself sort of seems a bit autobiographical for George too. Good reviews of these episodes Del.

Slim pickings on this last two episodes i grant you but in the bigger picture it depends how you look at it. Compare the early 80s and its styles and bands to that of the 60s and 70s then i would agree with you its not as good. Taken as the 80s as its own or even compared to the following decades then i think this was a good period.

Indeed. Compared to the mid/late 80s it is actually quite good, but compared to the 70s it is very thin.

From the previous edition, there was just Victims by Culture Club which I liked, but from the best of 1983 episode there are a few:
Jo Boxers, Mike Oldfield's Moonlight Shadow, They Don't know, by Tracey Ullman (one of the best records of 1983 IMO) Siouxsie & The Banshees, Spandau Ballet's True, Howard Jones New Song (another of my contenders for best song of 83) and Karma Chameleon.
I did actually enjoy 1983 and have some pretty decent memories of that year, before the 80s went into the downward spiral.

Great song as you say Cartman. Better than the original, dare I say. Kirsty MacColl backing vocals are prominent and I didn't know(until googling just now) that it's MacColl singing "Baby!" In the middle of the song.

Tracey sold a lot of singles and she also featured on the inaugural Hits Album. Looking at the two best of shows above there's a lot of great hits there I seem to remember 86 onwards was quite dire, could be wrong though.

They Don't Know is a truly great song regardless but the Phil Spector like production on the Tracey Ullman version along with her natural charm make it a very special record.
Roland Rat & Minder in the same show has to be worth watching.
