He does get Paul to 'help' from time to time but from what I've heard Paul Brackley is also an advisor on the series and owns a body shop in Bracknell where a lot of the work is done. I'm also led to believe that he owns a couple of the finished cars that were 'sold'. ;) Sam. Yeah that part is so faked. Why do they feel the need to make that BS up ? Especially the pretend buyers who moan about the motor then do the off without buying. Why not just put it on eBay motors after they broadcast the episode ? They could always update us about the sale in the first minute of the next one, Simples.

Let's face it, they're not really going to be too bothered about the sale price of the car, that is a side issue for the program. When you weigh up the production costs against the costs associated with the car, the repairs etc. are just a drop in the ocean.
The real money is made by the sales of the program to the Discovery channel and the revenue generated by the channel for advertising during the program's initial and repeat broadcasts.
Wheeler Dealers is a big money spinner for Discovery so they're not going to be too perturbed about only making five hundred "knicker" (in Brewer-speak!) on an Aston Martin when they come to flog it.
I'm also led to believe that Mike Brewer just wants to do one more series after this one. What's he up to after that? I don't know but I do remember him showing his face with Chip Foose once on Overhaulin'. Is he looking overseas?

Sam. Precisely Why do they bother with the charade of selling it. Brewer will stay for the $

So did anyone else watch last night?
As usual MB was over optimistic about how much profit they'd get but Ed has a relaxed manner about his spannering that makes it easy viewing.
The GTO wasn't too bad a choice, though not my choice of yankee motor. I'd prefer a '69 Camaro or an El Camino if I were to go that route.

I watched it. I enjoyed it. But I like American cars, so...
I'd like to see em do a Dodge Charger. I hope they do some normal run of the mill family cars too. Like the Duel Plymouth Valiant or a Ford F-150.

I sat and watched it too, well I recorded it and watched it on Tuesday.
It seemed a fairly good start to the series but I hadn't realised they'd set up the workshop over in the US, I was disappointed that the car wasn't shipped back to be sold over here.
The only thing I found to be quite irritating was that they felt the need to do a full recap of the show so far after every ad break. So much time there was wasted going over old ground again, time that could have been spent watching the repair work to the car.
I'm intrigued to see what cars are coming up in the series.
F.A.B !

Tonight's edition of Wheeler Dealers looks to be a classic BMW 2002tii that has gathered dust for the past 17 years.
If Ed and Paul do as good a job of this as they did of the MG last week then we should be in for a treat.

Been watching and enjoying this show on Quest channel. Dunno what series but it looks pretty old. Only got into it few weeks ago. What channel originally commissioned it?
Saw one this evening on the Saab 900; always wanted one of these, but I'm pretty sure it would guzzle fuel. Interesting to see how basic improvements are made, makes such a difference having a workshop space (no chance living in a flat! ) As some have said, the 'buyer' sometimes seems a bit staged, as did tonights. They do seem to pick the right cars to feature like old Peugeot 205, Xr3i's etc.

I've never been one for Saabs but it is interesting watching Ed make improvements. The workshop space does make all the difference, I have a garage but that wouldn't be enough for some of the jobs he tackles.
I finally caught up with last week's episode and have to say, what a cock-up! Wrong choice of car and totally wrong finish to it. A wasted episode in my humble opinion. So many more cars to choose from and the AMC Pacer was never going to have people flocking to part with good Wonga for it. And as for that reflective honeycomb effect? That was the one occasion where Ed really did go the wrong route.
Let's hope tonight's Datsun 240Z is better.
