The new series of Wheeler Dealers starts this Monday at 9:00pm on Discovery Turbo. Any other fans on here?
I've watched every series so far and while Mike Brewer has his 'moments', Ed China always manages to make his work interesting.
Clearly the buying and selling process is flawed - as is any 'profit' that the car might make - but overall it gives a good overview of how a bit of light renovation work can make a difference to a car.
F.A.B !

F.A.B ! I do quite like it, although Brewers "hold out yer hand San" before snapping the punters arm off does tend to grate a bit. Of course there is no profit, as it (& more) would usually be swallowed up in labour charges. I'd like to see the actual restoration process in a bit more detail rather than skimming over it too. Still, passes an hour & secures another classic for a few years.

Looks like the new series kicks off in the US with a Pontiac GTO.

A GTO? Well whatever they do, I hope they do better than they did with the 1962 Cadillac Coupe de Ville when they painted it algae green and added the pin striping on the bonnet. I just found a quote on the net that says:
Can't disagree with that!
F.A.B !

I've seen a few. Ed China seems a decent bloke but Mike Brewer is just annoying.

I've seen a few. Ed China seems a decent bloke but Mike Brewer is just annoying. I always think Ed has been mugged by Mike. Every episode he does all the work with those orange gloves on, while Mike seems to do FA. If I'd spent hours dismantling a dashboard, or carburettor or suspension system in restoring a car for Mike to breeze in with a stupid set of alloy wheels to "bang on the car" and make it look ridiculous, I'd be telling him where he could stick his spanner.

Bumped into Ed China at Crystal Palace in May last year at the start of the London - Brighton Mini run, a very nice bloke and a true petrolhead.

I doubt Edd does all of that work. He does some of it no doubt, but there's probably a couple of other mechanics. Edd is just the 'face' of the workforce.

There is a guy who appears from time to time to "hold the other end" when Ed wants to drop something or check the exhaust for smoke. He gets a first name check eg. "I''ve asked Paul to help with this ....". BTW, Ed is a World Record holder for being the fastest driver of a sofa

He does get Paul to 'help' from time to time but from what I've heard Paul Brackley is also an advisor on the series and owns a body shop in Bracknell where a lot of the work is done.
I'm also led to believe that he owns a couple of the finished cars that were 'sold'. ;)
Sam.
