Harry H Corbett makes a lengthy appearance as Dr Watson in this Generation Game Sherlock Holmes sketch, starts at about 27min 40 secs in.
Funnily enough Rita Webb who also turns up in the sketch appeared in Peter Cook/Dudley Moore's spoof film of 'Hound Of The Baskervilles' in 1978.

Apologies if this clip has been posted up before. Its a play l watched last night called 'The Hothouse' starring Harry Corbett and Diana Rigg. Diana got the part in the Avengers not long after it it was first aired in December 1964. Harry had been in Steptoe for neatly three years at the time. Charles.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of Harry H Corbett. Harry would have been 97 last month. Here's Wilfrid paying tribute. R.I.P Harry

Shame Harry passed so young and Steptoe is still the best sitcom to my mind. RIP Harry

The writer of 'The Hothouse', Donald Churchill, co-wrote the notorious Sweeney episode 'Hearts And Minds'.
