This advert this would have been made about three years after the final Steptoe series. I just wish adverts were half as good today. The ones they put on these days drive me up the wall. I find most of the so annoying, that I usually reach for the remote and press the mute button right away.

I came across this short film clip that was recently uploaded to YouTube of a short-lived sitcom with Harry H Corbett called Grundy. It dates from 1980 and also stars Lynda Barron (Open All Hours). There doesn't seem to be a DVD release available though.

Not heard of that one at all. He played a recurring character in 'Potter' about the same time, another mostly forgotten sitcom.

Apparently the ratings were reasonable for the first series, but it seems Corbett's poor health may have been a contributory factor in not carrying on with it. Perhaps Network will release the sitcom on DVD sometime in the near future.

The first Steptoe And Son film was on Channel 5 last night, not sure if anything was wrong with the copy they showed but the voices sounded like chipmunks they were so high! Anyone else noticed this?

Yeah remember watching a few of these, liked the film better..and like a lot of 70s sitcom, 'twas very funny! I can understand, at the time why Mary Whitehouse had a moan! But didn't she moan at, The Sweeney too.. A guess a lot of the stuff at the time was Sexist! Lol' But never the less stil very funny! I mean ya know what they say! If you can't take a joke! Then ya shouldn't of joined..

One of the Steptoe films had a scene at White City dog track. White City has been a feature on many British films and TV dramas, and lends a very charismatic backdrop. I think only Southall gas works beats it as a location of choice.
