I missed that meet but I'm glad I got to have a pint in there with John Steed and Vienna (who was on a local ratting job with Rigsby) I'd guess this visit was in 2014. Fortunately we were granted permission to look around the side of the bar where this was filmed. The side entered by Farncombe Street(The Red door on the left as you look at it below). All the wood panelling decor was in tact and it even had an old joanna in there. Was that in Regan ? I don't know, I'll have to watch it again. I hope it is saved. I guess this high up shot was taken from a since demolished warehouse.

You missed a brilliant meet Del, it was the first complete meet I'd been to and first time I'd joined in one of Michael Rodd's quizzes. As I mentioned previously that was also the meet that Gene sat down at that old Joanna and tinkled the ivories giving us a perfect rendition of "My Old Man Said Follow The Van" as in the opening scene in the OJ. I heard good things about that particular meet and that great strides were taken to move the meets on to another level. I remember reading good reports at the time. My joining of the squad happened just after this meet and my first meet was also a cracker based atound the Faces episode. Good to hear Gene recreated the Joanna's part in Regan

It was great to see the old place, but I was disappointed to miss out on a saucer of milk stout as Rupert wouldn't put his hands into his pockets

Just rewatched it this morning and it's excellent, a great way to start the series off, I don't recollect seeing it before as I don't really remember watching Armchair Theatre
The locations are great, guess filmed late 73 as it looks s but wintry and the tax disc on the Zodiac was expiry date April 74

As I recall my pint of Asahi Lager was nice but yours and Vienna's drinks were a bit borderline. It was great that the wood panelling was intact at the time but the pub was generally looking very tired at the time and the pub being empty on a Saturday afternoon was a sign that it was in trouble! Steed Walked past the OJ when I did a river walk last year sadly all closed up and nothing doing. Shame really as area's a goldmine with massive redevelopment recently.

I hope that great looking pub survives, it's boozers like that that give London, and other cities part of their character.

I hope that great looking pub survives, it's boozers like that that give London, and other cities part of their character. It might Cartman but if it does it will probably will get reinvented as some kind of Gastro-pub like a few around there have done in the last decade or so. Problem is it's in a prime redevelopment location (London Bridge/Thameside being nearby) so might end up demolished in the next few years. The plus point in it's favour is it's surrounded by social housing which wouldn't be that easy to redevelop but in London anything is possible?
Think the previous owner/tenant did try something like that at the OJ but for some reason couldn't make a success of it, sadly.
