Ramsey seems to have been in the episode Jigsaw as well. Yeah - I must have missed that.

(Quoted from the Regan Location thread) GH.
Incidentally - the opening scene, in the pub.
Stunt Director Peter Brayham appears, as well as Bobby Ramsey - Ex boxer, and also early on - a member of the original Krays "firm" operating out of Bethnal Green. I don't think he was involved with the 'firm' during the mid-later part of the 60s - by that time he had become an extra/stuntman/actor - like John Bindon and Nosher.
Can't find him on IMDB; though there is this... Ramsey was also in the first Steptoe film when Zita strips off in the club. Gene.

He was in a bit more stuff than I had first imagined.

Hadn't heard of nor noticed Ramsey before. Surprising how many stunt men/extras & even actors, from the London area at least, had some association with the 'chaps' as Aitch would call them. Looking at a youtube clip, Ramsey also played heavies in 'The Squeeze' & 'Sitting Target'.

Looking at a youtube clip, Ramsey also played heavies in 'The Squeeze' & 'Sitting Target'. It is surprising. There was Nosher Powell and possibly a few others too. Not sure if anyone from the Richardson operation ever got into acting.
Also - seasoned actors like George Sewell, James Booth and Ronald Fraser (all appeared in the Sweeney) were all friendly with the Krays.
Peter Brayham always said that he wanted 'Real Faces' - he certainly did get that!

I've always been disappointed by the ending of this story. Don't think its realistic that by telling career criminals that there is something called prison they are then going to run away when they had Regan and Carter outnumbered. They had already showed little compunction when killing one officer. Fortunately the stories got a lot better, Ringer the first one was a belter. I've always thought that the ending let it down somewhat but Regan worked well enough as a concept and we got the series thankfully.

Indeed it did.
I think the screen presence and immediate chemistry of the leading actors got it off to a great start.
Plus most things with great opening music are good.
Wonder who they considered for Regan other than Thaw?

No one. In Regan and i believe somewhere else on the Network box set special features is an interview with Ian Kennedy Martin. He explains its concept in detail. He knew John and wrote the series with him in mind. The features and commentaries on the discs are worth a watch if you haven't seen them.

The guest stars worked incredibly well, bar a couple of performances.
