I haven't watched the Blu Ray version for quite a while now. I'll have to have a look at it. Must say I didn't notice the swap for JT, still when you're at the the top of your game I suppose you can get a stuntman to chuck himself in a puddle for you.

Loved that little vid Delboy And looks like another bunch of rowdies that would soon be heading off to the Lamb Tavern also! And did I spot friend of the fans John Lyons there at the end? Top bloke. Fair enough 3L. Regan certainly sailed close to the wind when it came to his charges, but then again he was usually on the scene with them, not swanning around in an office miles away from the action, with a perspex map, and his version of Captain Darling simpering around after him! Of course, Ronald Peters may have some views of his own on how Regan balanced the priorities of getting a result and keeping people safe! I still think the puddle fall looked dodgy though!

Yes, I always believed the arm in the air was Jack (the stuntman obviously) knowing he was about to fall into water, raised the arm holding the gun in order to keep the gun dry - and failing.
Gene.

Hmm, well I suppose put like that, it makes a bit of sense. But there's still just something about the way it was portrayed that just seemed a bit overdone and a little unnatural for the situation that was unfolding. But as it was a stuntman and not an actor, and as I am neither, then I think I'll leave it there with the armchair critique! H & M I'll eventually get to in time. But I'll just say that despite the brickbats, it still isn't the worst Sweeney episode of all time for me. Neither is Night Out, just to clarify!

I'm halfway through a rewatch and really enjoying it
I was trying to identify the posters on Iris's wall
The big ones are Easy Rider and David Essex, there's also a smaller photo of Sparks and another smaller one that could be David Gates from Bread
There's also a cowboy drawing his pistols which could be one of Alias Smith and Jones?
She seems a bit on the old side to be having posters on the wall - but then again the wallpaper was a bit naff so perhaps that's why
Anyway, anyone else able to ID any of her posters

She is a bit old to be having posters & magazine clippings on her wall, as was Terry McCann in Minder. I've had a look on the blu ray & used the zoom feature, there's a clipping of Godley & Creme next to the Sparks picture, I don't recognise any others. The director of this episode David Wickes directed Silver Dream Racer, there's a comment about the David Essex poster on the dvd commentary.
There's a sticker on the dressing table that reads 'try it you'll love it'. Oddly there are Christmas decorations in the room as the date on the Sunday Express newspaper the paperboy drops outside the pub reads November, the date on Regan's watch is, I think, 14, however Sunday did not fall on the 14th in Nov 1974. A headline reads 'Miners' pay a new Red threat', alluding to the miners strike.
On Regan's hospital bed there's a copy of 'Mind Alive' magazine, a National Geographic type mag, the magazine Regan is reading is open at a page with a photo of Columbo, I think the text reads 'they all fall for Columbo's shabby trick'.

Thanks Arthur - that is great intel
I was especially interested that the director of this episode, David Wickes, also directed Silver Dream Racer - I wonder if it was his idea to get David's mug so prominently on the wall
I've now finished my rewatch of Night Out and really enjoyed it
Despite being a Troy Kennedy Martin funny one, I think it stays the right side of credible, and the serious stuff, the blag and the careerist and publicity seeking Super, work well.
And obviously the boozer itself is absolutely brilliant - I'm so pleased to know it's still there and seemingly relatively unchanged.
