Fred Harris - he used to present loads of schools programmes, on all channels. He was a good drummer too.
Is he still about?

There are smudges of Fred Harris from 2018 at an event, not seen him on tv for many years. He could be very funny, he was on 'End Of Part One', a surprisingly good comedy sketch series written by David Renwick & Andrew Marshall. There is an interview with Fred from June 2020 Fred Harris Interview

I think I remember Fred on those programs Sparky. Playschool etc Yeah, he did Playschool, Chocablock possibly popped up on Playaway and Jigsaw on the BBC. I'm sure I once saw an Open University programme on early computers, where he popped up too.
On ITV I remember him on Figure it Out and Basic Maths - both ATV produced Schools Programmes.

Two real gems from today's listing. Ready When You Are, Mr McGill, the excellent play about veteran extra landing his first speaking part in a drama and one of the best children's dramas of the 70s, A Place to Hide featuring a young Brian Capron. Episode one appears on a Network compilation, but I have yet to see the rest of the series anywhere other than it's original screening back in 76. All that in the same week Bouquet of Barbed Wire started, which was far too racey for a young kid like me at the time to watch, but I somehow managed to sneak a look.

Not heard of No Place To Hide, sounds good, looks like the only main role Terry Duggan ever had, the husband of Anna Karen I've only seen him play bit parts. He played one of the apes in '2001 A Space Odyssey'.

Possibly one of the finest TV dramas to be produced. Wasn't set on the 2003 remake of it as it had been padded out to fill the slot of a feature film. Though it was still good.
Shockingly, the 1975 film is still very accurate and relavent today - OK, fashions and hairstyles are a little different; the equipment has changed a little (but not much) - but the attiudes of the old school are shown well here.
The actual crew (bottom photo) - the chap in the centre with the fluffy hat is Director Mike Newell - who went on much later to Direct "Four Weddings and Funeral". The Sound Recordest, sat in the foreground, is John Muxworthy - who did lots at Granada - mainly when the did Film Inserts on Coronation St.
Not sure where John is now, possibly retired. Though he was still working in during the 2000s. A nice chap. A little different from that portrayed by Fred Feast.
I have worked with people who are pretty much like every character in this film.
The (actual) Lighting Gaffer - is stood next to actor William Hoyland (in Uniform) - behind the rostrum. If you watch close enough, he as well as others appear in the film, wandering about.
Prior to filming, Jack Shephard did "work experience" on a couple of films alongside Mike Newell to get a good point of view from the Director.
Most of it was shot on Danes Road in Manchester. Ther crew in the bottom photo was sat pretty much under the tree on the RH side. Not a lot has changed.
If you want to see how Euston Films would have been operating - this is the film to watch; as Euston would have been using exactly the same gear, same hairstyles, attitudes, fashions - though they moved about London quite a bit.
