After seeing the 1980 film of Flash Gordon a couple of times on the TV, I never thought it was one of the best Sci Fi films, but it does of course have a soundtrack from Queen - With the theme tune being the most well known. The film itself had mixed reviews when first shown, and audiences dwindled sharply after the premier weekend in the USA and Canada and was being pulled altogether from some major markets by the 4th weekend.
I remember kids at the time talking about the Soundtrack more than the film too.
Did have a good cast though, with Max Von Sydow, Brian Blessed, Timothy Dalton, and Peter Wyngarde.

I've seen all three of those, Night, all at the cinema in 79, and, yes, they're all rubbish, but the music in them was good. They showed the trailer for 'The Bitch' when I went to see Watership Down as a kid... after seeing the trailer I wanted to see The Bitch more, a bit of a let down when I did see it mid '90's on Channel 5.

Breaking Glass is worth a shout although Hazel O'Connor is one of those weird artists who never really built on their early spark and success IMO. Can't really remember much about the actual film except she was cased-up with Phil Daniels character who was their manager, she makes it big, elbows Phil then has a breakdown with Phil's character the only one who cares. AFAIK it had decent supporting cast, wasn't Gary Olsen in it? and I would watch it again if it comes up but not one I'd like to keep etc.

Breaking Glass isn't bad. Hazel O Connor did two or three I liked, Will You, I thought was brilliant, and I also liked 8th Day, then she disappeared.

It's a not a bad film really and one I dig out occasionally, even though it's a bit depressing. I like the theme of the well to do record company bosses who wouldn't give Hazel a second look until they realise she's the next big thing and likely to make them money. Music-wise, I think some of the lesser known songs from Hazel in the film are better than some of ones that made it as released singles.

I think she moved towards a career in acting, then gave everything up to join the Hare Krishna movement or something similar for a short while if I remember correctly.

Gary Holton was often cast as bad punk guitarists, he was one in the Find the Lady episode of Shoestring, which also featured Toyah.

They showed the trailer for 'The Bitch' when I went to see Watership Down as a kid... after seeing the trailer I wanted to see The Bitch more, a bit of a let down when I did see it mid '90's on Channel 5. I hadn't realised until now that the nightclub scenes were filmed at Tramp in Jermyn Street which was owned by Jackie Collins' husband at the time of filming. Just checked online and it's still going, though strictly private members only which is a shame as I was planning to pop in for a pint of Fuller's ESB whenever I next visit London. Caviar is on the menu at £300 a pop*, though there's no Blue Nun or Black Tower on the wine list which is a bit of a bummer. Another film which fits the bill is FM from 1978 with a bearded pre-Dempsey & Makepeace Michael Brandon as the head DJ on a Californian Yacht Rock station who leads a protest/lock in against increased adverts. The storyline isn't very credible but the whole film is centred around a concert with some great artists. AND - it's packed with music from The Eagles, Linda Rondstadt, Boston, The Doobie Bros, Tom Petty and Steely Dan who wrote the theme tune, sang the theme tune etc, which is why it remains on the media player *(To be fair, they also offer Russian caviar for £90 for us poor Yorkshire types.)

FM by Steely Dan was a great song. Haven't heard it for ages, will get it up on YouTube now!

It's a film I've not seen but heard about/meant to but does Radio On fit the bill here? isn't it B/W film of Sting driving around and not a lot else but a soundtrack set to Bowie, Kraftwerk, Ian Drury and Robert Fripp! It's one I've heard about but never really fancied?
