A total farce. Had I have been a spectator in Spa yesterday I would certainly want a full refund. My thoughts in a spoiler below. Gene {>Spoiler<} With the cars not completing a single lap in anger (without the safety car) then in my opinion NO POINTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARDED. It's my belief that the cars were only sent out for the second time just to fulfil the regulation 'race distance'. To clarify - I do not think the race should have gone ahead at all in those conditions. Conditions were worse than they were during qualifying and look what happened to poor Lando Norris in Q3 - much to the anger of Seb Vettel who more and more these days is becoming the voice of reason. I echo the words of Lewis and a few other drivers who have spoken out against the decisions made yesterday and encouraged the organisers to refund the fans who stood in the appalling weather all day for nothing. On a side note, the podium presentation that still went ahead also told a story. That story being that Max Verstappen still has a lot of growing up to do - and I say that as a big Max Verstappen fan myself. During the champaign spraying, Hamilton tried to get involved with Max but Max didn't want to know, repeatedly turning his back on Lewis. There will always be mixed opinions as to who was at fault at Silverstone but whatever happened, it was time to move on from that some weeks ago.
Gene. Couldn't agree with you more Gene, what a farce. As soon as they went out the final time I knew they'd do the minimum laps to get a result. How can that stand? Talk about a hollow victory. As for Max, he needs to grow up. As the ticket says, "Motorsport is dangerous" and incidents will like that will happen, he alone should know that. Lucklily, the BTCC was also on yesterday and that more than made up for the non race in Belgium, some fantastic racing at Thruxton. I enjoyed the BTCC racing too Steve, good action and plenty of different winners too. The Max v Lewis, Mercedes v Red Bull thing is all pantomime it's no different from the Schumacher v Hill/Hakkinnen, Ferrari v Williams/McLaren and other era's in F1 although I think there's no love lost with the fallout of the post Silverstone incident between the two of them. The Dutch GP will be interesting let's hope for the right reasons.

I agree with all of the above posts !
What a farce. The race that shouldn't have been run. What is wrong with just cancelling a race. They've cancelled plenty this year and rearranged the schedule numerous times.
Full credit to - the spectators who stayed and stayed ! The ones in the grandstands had roof cover but the others on the hills and around the track were amazing. (I would have gone home !)

I've done the Spa GP 3 or 4 times over the years and had all sorts of weather thrown at us. I can testify that Spa, in the rain is a very atmospheric and gloomy place to be. The mist just hangs there for hours even after the cars have stopped. They could not have raced there on Sunday and they knew it. Unfortunately, money talks.

I'd avoided the media on Sunday as I went out for the day and wanted to watch this race in the evening. Just like The Likely Lads episode where they avoid the England result I switched the telly on to find some other program on in the place of the F1 I do hope the two laps was about awarding points fairly and avoiding court action from the teams rather than trying to turn the fans over for the entrance fee for a two lap race ?

Race Control could have argued for a similar red flag at Spa '98 the race which had the wipeout at the start and the infamous Schumi v DC shunt yet racing did happen in '98 and had Jordan not issued team orders Ralf Schumacher may have taken on Damon Hill for the 1-2 the team had then. Sunday's race was worse (but not much more) than in 1998 but as said it wasn't a race either, too many shades of Indianapolis '05 for me.

Not before time. I'm a big fan of Kimi but lets be honest, he's only been drawing a wage for the past few years. I can well see Bottas slotting in the vacant Alfa seat when George Russell takes his rightful place at Mercedes. If he doesn't straight swap at Williams. Gene.

Yes ! No offence to Kimi but his actions and media interviews (when he says more than two words!) over recent years have shown that he's maybe lost the passion and drive. I don't think this is a job you should do just for the money. (We all do jobs for the money not the passion sometimes, but Kimi ain't short of a quid!). We know he had and has the skills but show you want to be there or else let another driver desperate for the chance to try. He has had a brilliant career. I'm rapt to hear he's going.
