Looking forward to the race at Silverstone on Sunday. I like the idea of the qualifying supersprint with some points up for grabs, will be watching in a few hours time. It is still surprising to see so many people in the crowd. (Loved watching Wimbledon and the crowds spun me out there too) Here's hoping for a spectacular race with plenty of overtakes, track records and surprises !
If Gene is out there, have a fantastic time.

Have a good one Gene Oh yes! I'll be there tomorrow. I'll be in the Grandstand at Club Corner so will see the cars coming down from Stowe, through Vale and taking the last fow corners before heading down the main straight. I'll post some photos as soon as I can Gene.

I'm not a fan of the Sprint Race to determine the grid positions for the race. The fastest car should be on pole, the current format of Q1, Q2, & Q3 ensures action for an hour. Supposedly this is about widening the appeal of F1 for a younger audience and if that's so, then it just proves it's a gimmick. Look at Perez, now starts last. I wan't fan of this idea from the start but thought I'd wait until I'd seen it but it has not changed my mind.
Ross Brawn says that Lewis would have lost the race if this had been it and now he gets a second chance, but a race is over 1.5 hours and pit stop strategy would play a part in that as well as tyre and mechanical issues, so I don't think that's a fair comment.
I hope this doesn't become a feature of F1, I for one wouldn't bother with it any more, it's no longer a sport.

A strange weekend what with the new format. Red bull won the ones that didn't matter, first practice and the sprint and Mercedes had the luck shining on them again at the right times in the other sessions. The incident that robbed us of the top two battling it out during the race was analysed on sky. From that it was clear that both had the opportunity to avoid the collision but Lewis ultimately wears the blame for being behind on the inside with room and hitting the right rear of Max's car. The stewards got it right it seems in terms of blame but I'm not sure if I agree with the debate that the penalty wasn't harsh enough. I don't know enough about how the rules work in relation to the sanction chosen. Hopefully Verstappen gets back in the car and down to business next time out. This incident ultimately spices up rivalry and I can see more coming togethers in future races. I don't think Max is one to yield in the way Rosberg used to on first laps.
Leclerc's woes with intermittent power loss played into Hamilton's hands and cost him a win. Leclerc seems to get robbed time after time with bad luck where as Hamilton seems to be the polar opposite. That's F1 for you. Plenty of other good action going on in this race, both McLarens looked good here which was pleasing to see and Alonso put in a good shift. Silverstone delivered a great spectacle yet again. Look forward to the next race.
