We've seen some tight races since my last report. Good to see Perez coming to the party with regular podiums and a win.
The French GP was a good strategic battle between the top four cars. Even though Paul Ricard is a poor circuit (surely there's better in France) the suspense of who was going to come out on top lasted until the final few laps. I got a feeling Mercedes didn't set out to go for the one stop, but were forced into it after Max jumped Lewis after the Red Bull's first stop. It was impressive how the Merc drivers kept lapping at a good pace with spent tyres and you could see the front lefts were well worn, unfortunately for them they came up a few laps short. Lets hope this season stays tight between the Red bull and Mercedes. Elsewhere I thought both McLarens did a good job and Gasley had a good drive.

I have been enjoying watching all the F1 races on tv. As Australia goes in and out of lockdowns it has been a constant thing to look forward to every fortnight or so.
Bad news announced today - Australian F1 race for 2021 cancelled !
Australia only last week announced it is halving its international arrival planes into Australia. Our vaccination numbers are still low with 40 year olds and above only being able to book in for a jab still. If our govt. had moved quicker with supply we could have had the majority of all of us (25 million) vaccinated by November but it is not to be. Our virus numbers are very very low ( we have been lucky) but our vaccine supply has halted our return to opening up to the wide world.
Albert Park contractors have only just completed changes to the track ! I have sat at Turns 1, 2, 15 and pit lane.
Summary of Albert Park 2021 Circuit Changes: Turn 1 Widening of the corner by 2.5 metres (to the drivers’ right).
Turn 3 Widening of the corner by 4 metres (to the drivers’ right). Camber adjustment.
Turn 6 Widening of the corner by 7.5 metres (to the drivers’ right).
Current Turns 9 and 10 Chicane removed to create a straight, creating the possibility of a fourth DRS zone at Albert Park.
Current Turn 13 Realignment of Ross Gregory Drive and slight extension of Lakeside Drive to create a tightened corner (between Turns 13 and 14). Widening of corner by 3 metres (to the drivers’ right). Camber adjustment.
Current Turn 15 Widening of the corner by 3.5 metres (to the drivers’ right). Camber adjustment.
Pit Lane Widened by 2 metres (completed in late 2020). The F1 organisers asked the Victorian government for a fly-in, fly-out arrangement with a bubble set up for drivers, team officials and staff, to avoid the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for arrivals in Australia.
A quarantine period here would mess up the schedule for other races. Australia refused the exemption to the 14 day quarantine period so the F1 bosses have said that is not acceptable or possible for the drivers and crews.
Victoria recorded its sixth straight day of zero locally transmitted cases, while NSW reported 18 and Queensland one on Tuesday.
The govt. here is being stubborn. What a mess ! The fear is that we may not get an F1 race back here as new countries jump on the circuit.

That's a real shame that it's cancelled ! It's been one of the best circuits on the calendar and will be missed. I like the look of the improvements. They don't seek to drastically change the circuit just enhance it. It will be interesting to see the flow now that the chicane has been removed.

I certainly hope Melbourne doesn't lose the GP, BG it's definitely one I would like to do and has always been a traditional good circuit for the season opener. Fingers Crossed!
