It's a fantastic piece of British film history that certainly has stood the test of time. I first was introduced to it in the 80s by my dad, It was the first dvd I bought in the 90s and I will definitely be watching it in the decades to come. I enjoyed looking at the locations on our meet and will definitely be up for going back to cover more. I hope the Central Pub has stocked back up on single malt after Sam drank them dry last time Jura A-Go-Go Del!

As everyone has said, a brilliant film and superb locations. Both north-east meets in March 2017 and 2018 were fantastic from start to finish and they’re both great memories. Everyone had such a great time. Here’s to the next one.

I’m surprised there isn’t a 50 anniversary Blu-ray for Carter, it’s a bit of an omission (unless I’ve missed something?). It’s absolutely perfect for a restoration, booklet, mega extras etc. More obscure films have had excellent Blu-ray up grades, Carter straddles cult and more mainstream acknowledgement so I’m sure it wouldn’t be short of punters wanted to buy this.

I might be imagining it but I've noticed that films released by MGM tend to get bare bones dvd/blu rays.
Other MGM British films of the period include Villain, Sitting Target, No Blade Of Grass, My Lover My Son,The Night Digger & The Walking Stick, none of which have been represented well on dvd/blu ray. Villain got a blu ray release recently but like Get Carter it was bare bones.
TCM shows mostly MGM films ( or it did when I used to watch it years ago ) & I always thought the films they showed looked like no one cared about them, washed out colours, muddy audio, etc. They showed Get Carter every month it seemed, also the US remake Hit Man. I think this endless repetition of certain films & tv shows has a lot to do with how they're treated on dvd/blu ray. I'm convinced that The Sweeney & Minder haven't been treated with the respect they're due because ITV4 shows them constantly, thereby the public becomes so used to them that they're taken for granted & not properly appraised.
GC & Villain also are notable for featuring some horrendous US friendly dubbing.

A great idea! Can't understand why it's not been done! and of course sort out the dubbing at the beginning!
