Unfortunately I can't find any examples online, but in the 80s when I used to search for cars in the local Autotrader mags, there was an advertiser who seemed to be the complete alternative to the flashy ads of the time. I can't remember the name of the garage, but it must have been somewhere in Yorkshire/Lancashire. They specialised in old bangers and were so OK with the fact they used to write really honest and witty descriptions to match the cheap prices. Some of the ones I can recall from memory:-
1976 Volvo 240 - gone round the world and the round the clock. Lovely car. Came across with Abba. 1973 Allegro - who doesn't love the old Allegro-vation ? This is a good example though. One previous owner. Possibly the Vicar's wife. 1975 Dolomite - good runner, low mileage, but looks like it's been painted with a yard brush 1978 Maxi - recent return. Good car. Timewaster brought it back because the nodding dog didn't work and the ashtray was full.
Wish I'd kept a couple of copies to scan. I wouldn't have dared buy a car from them, but their ads were good for a laugh.

I remember those! They used to turn up in the Manchester Evening News too.

Some fabulous ads from everyone there - thank you! Didn't know actually that Maserati made a few trucks as well. Facel Vegas are stunning cars, - Ringo Starr had that model I believe - the Facel II, it's still around and I saw it at the NEC Birmingham one year, when they had a display of 4 cars all owned by the Fab 4 parked together.

Ringo bought his Facel in 1964 but sold it in 1968 after having a very serious accident in it which almost cost him his life. From then on he preferred driving or being chauffeured about in his new Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman . A few more oldies.... Villain
