Also filmed at Portmeirion :-
Good one there Windy, though I must admit I don't ever recall seeing or hearing that track before. Plenty of nods to The Prisoner included and some great aerial shots across the village. Sam.

Yes I've been to Portmeirion and it's great, well worth visiting. Like this song too, Supergrass were a bit of a one hit wonder, don't recollect anything else of theirs Supergrass actually had several other hits in the 90s that reached the Top 10: 'Lenny', 'Going Out', 'Richard III', 'Sun Hits the Sky' and 'Moving.' Another track that I viewed earlier on the Now 80's channel had locations that many forum members should recognise from previous Sweeney locations meets:
Terence Trent D'arby - Sign Your Name:
The first view from the steps down is in Lots Road, Chelsea with the power station in the background. Poetic licence then allows the woman and the kid to be looking at the house from the back of the Jaguar which is located in Upcerne Road (one road away from Uverdale Road) looking towards Lots Road.
TTD is then shown riding his bike along Lots Road with the old LUL power station on his left.
Later in the video he's seen riding down Barnaby Street, again off of Lots Road, past Upcerne Road and Uverdale Road only to appear parked up outside 36 Lots Road and the steps first seen earlier with the Jaguar parked out the front too.
Another point of interest is that despite the single being released in 1988 and presumably the video recorded at much the same time, the Jaguar 940CGD is recorded on the Gov.uk website as not having Road Tax since November 1981 . So what was it doing appearing on the road in a video??
I'd look into it myself if I wasn't still in 1973.
Sam.

Thanks for that Sam! I was watching Music of the 80's I think its called last Friday night and that video was featured; I first heard it and saw TTD performing it on the Christmas 1987 Lenny Henry Show.
The Jag was registered in 1961 so that makes a late model MKIX, as you say strange it wasn't taxed for 7 years at the time. But I notice it had a recent V5 issued in 2013 according the DVLA site.
The Indian Motorbike he rides is on a SORN and was new in 1959. Did anyone notice the Rover P5B in the background he rides past?

Yes I'd checked the bike out too, not my style of bike but I did wonder if it was out there somewhere stripped down in a garage and the owner not knowing it was in this video. Seeing TTD in this video reminded me a bit of Prince riding his bike in Purple Rain. Main difference here is that the Indian is a 1200cc V-twin whereas Prince was on a 400cc Honda with a huge Windjammer fairing to slow the bike down even further. I'd spotted the P5B but in addition to that the 6-series BMW further back along the same line of cars and the Merc on t'other side of the road. Sam.

Splendid work on recognising the locations there Sam, clearly you've visited the area on occasion.
It is an interesting video for that tune and one wonders why the lady and child are being driven around in a Jaguar apparently after leaving him. Why was she leaving him I wonder? Was it because he kept that greasy two-wheeled monstrosity in his bedroom? She wants to sleep in a boudoir and he prefers a garage? I doubt that anyone would or could consider them to be an ideal match. Perhaps he's just her 'bit of rough'?
We all like that from time to time don't we?

Despite all the handicaps, White Town filmed the video for their 1997 #1 hit "Your Woman" in Derby :_
The building to the left in the second Street View pic is sadly under threat of demolition, the cost of removal of asbestos being too high to afford.
