Anyone have a favourite ident? And why?
For me, it has to be ATV - in colour.
Everytime I hear it, it's means "Tiswas", or the Local News (ATV-Today) and then Crossroads is about to start! I didn't watch the latter

Southern, simple but evocative, it conjures up Ye Olde England & as I live in the North I didn't see it often so it has an exotic quality. Also like HTV with its strange wobbly music. Least favourite has to be Granada, I think it's ugly looking & as it's the region I'm from I know it too well.

Blimey - Southern with the acoustic guitar- "How!"
Always found it a novelty when you saw some of the smaller company idents appearing - you used to get a few, such as "Grampian" or "Ulster" popping up before schools programmes.

Difficult to pick a favourite so it'll have to be a shortlist from me.
In no particular order....
Mind your eyes for this one....
On that note, I'm off to watch Auf Wiedersehen Pet series 2, episode 1.
Gene.

Blimey - that Harlech one was a bit heavy going visually! Like a bad trip in in Monochrome!!
I forgot, LWT had the earlier "London Weekend" ident, and then by the late 70s had "London Weekend Television".
Pub Fact.... did you know the guy (Doug Weymouth) who animated the LWT ident - also animated the "Mr Men". He went to work for Pearl & Dean (pa pa pa pa pa pa....yah) - making local cinema adverts (you know, those local Curry House ones)

The mighty BBC clock and Globe look so different above who had thought those basic looking boxes were smart looking logos held in high regard by the nation.
I love all the ITV regional idents. The notion that each region brings their own bit to the party is a good one. The idents are a great little ldea and they say look at what we made in our region. Bring back regional ITV !
For me my favs were Thames and LWT (my region, boring i know)Also loved the mechanical BBC clock and globe.

The cds on the table give it scale, the globe itself doesn't look much bigger than a table tennis ball!

Despite being from (originally) Granadaland have to vote Thames on this one mainly because of the 'exotic' capital and the good programmes they made. Although Central (Auf Pet) and HTV because we could pick it up are also notable mentions.

Its a spoof video but I wish it was real. There just has to be some real gaffes in all the years of broadcasting.
