As I have recently been watching the Challenge Channel quite a bit on Freeview, it gave me an idea for a new thread. So what are your favourite game shows, either from the recent past or from further back. Post your clips and comments. I'll start with Bullseye: naff prizes (often speedboats) and dated fashions, but a strangely addictive darts show for me from the 80s/90s.

Big fan of Bullseye, I don't think people who knock it realise just how good Bowen was as a host & in fact how difficult a lot of the questions could be, harder in fact than many of the general knowledge questions on the dumbed down 'Mastermind'.
Family Fortunes with absent minded Max Bygraves as host could be hilarious.
Blockbusters The Crystal Maze if that counts as a game show You Bet The original Fifteen To One with William G Stewart Crosswits with Tom O'Connor ( 'keep your wits about you...and just for me, never a cross word' ) Catchword with Paul Coia ( BBC2 afternoon show from late 80s ) Gambit with Fred Dineage ( later Tom O'Connor ) Name That Tune with Tom O'Connor ( later Lionel Blair ) Give Us A Clue Gallery ( channel 4 art based quiz show from the 80s hosted by George Melly ) Screentest Sale Of The Century Telly Addicts The Generation Game ( early Brucie & Grayson years )

I used to watch many of the ones listed above Arthur/Gene. Another one I used to enjoy from the 1990s was Turnabout...

I liked Screentest and Name That Tune too but also Brucie's Play Your Cards Right. Great Friday night TV, just before Auf Wiedersehen Pet

This thread has got me looking at old game show clips on youtube Richard Madeley used to host a show called 'Runway' & I remember an edition where he asked a question about Barry Manilow's hit 'Mandy', he said to the contestant 'you must remember it, it was awful'. Years later Manilow appeared on This Morning, he was sat behind a piano & Madeley, who was stood with Judy next to him, said in a totally sincere voice, 'you must do Mandy' I don't know why I remember this but it happened. Who remembers 'Win My Wage' with Nick Hancock? An absolute stinker from 2007 that lasted 20 episodes.

Great thread Moggy I was never a great fan of game shows but this thread has taken me back to a great family memory. Our son who would have only been about four or five at the time, use to love watching Big Break with Jim Davidson and John Virgo. So much so that one Christmas we bought him a small snooker table and my in-laws bought him a "No Dad!" waistcoat. The table was always out and he would always be lining up his very own trick shots based on those that "JV" would do on the program. Happy days! Sam.

I came across an ITV forerunner of 'Big Break' on yt the other day, 'Pick Pockets' hosted by the ubiquitous Tom O'Connor, can't say I remember it well. Used to have a secondhand homemade snooker table, it had no legs so we had to put it on top of an old dining room table, you could never seem to get it dead straight so the balls would drift across the table. It's been in the garage for the last 25 years.

This thread got me thinking (As it should I suppose) about the quiz shows I watched as a kid in the 80s. Anyone remember Finders Keepers presented by Richard Stilgoe? From memory, it was a bit like a game of Battleships but all I can find on YouTube is a mega mix of the theme tune.
Warning! Video contains a lot of Moog.

Talking of Bullseye and Big Break, back in 1996 the BBC tried unsuccessfully with a golf themed show called Full Swing. It was so bad that only one series was made owing to bad ratings and also terrible jokes from Jimmy Tarbuck. Vi
