Watching the Eagle has Landed on BBC1. I just watched it too, it's the first time I have seen it The Saint I read the book many, many years ago. Michael Caine plays the leading part as I remember. Charles.

.........................I'm also going to watch Escape To Victory(1982)on C5. For those who don't know it's a Football film based in a wartime POW camp. The cast included Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone and football stars Bobby Moore and Pele amongst others. ................................... I saw that film in 1982. My brother took me to see it. I haven't seen it since but I really liked it back then.

Many of the films mentioned I'd seen before but of course if you look in the TV listings there is a great many retro gems to be found! I missed Carry on at your Convenience the other day, and didn't notice it till later on the TV listings, as that's one I've not seen before.
But I caught the episode of Dad's army the other night (the one with the obstacle challenge between Mainwarings platoon and the rival pompous Captain's platoon). And even though I have it on DVD I caught the Christmas Likely Lads again, always great to watch - the only one where we see Bob with a beard!
Other than that, I haven't watched a great deal, just listened to music over Christmas and put on DVD's.

I've heard many positive reviews about The Crown but it's not a genre I tend to watch TBH. Netflix are producing some good quality programmes. Seems to be the way tvs going now.

Wasn't really too fussed with the Xmas TV this year to be honest a fair bit of it was the usual pony or stuff you've seen before. Still a few things I've got to watch like Hell Drivers which I've pvr'd and a few other bits and pieces too.

Has anyone else noticed that for the last few years at Christmas there has been a one-off ITV comedy show featuring someone you've never heard of, usually shown very late? There was one on last year or the year before featuring an up & coming Kevin Bishop type who vanished without trace & it was so unfunny that you had to see it to believe it. This year it was a 'grumpy old men' at Christmas type show, I recognised one of the people on it but the rest I hadn't a clue. Happened to see an edition of Keith Lemon's Sketch Show & bits of it were actually very funny, particuarly his David Dickinson impression. My brother stays over during Christmas/New Year & monopolises the tv, constant football & worse still horse racing, it's on all day ffs, up to 9 hours of it. 'Green tv' my sister calls it.
