Well excuse my ignorance regarding country but I never knew this was a cover. Its a good duet on a good track. The original was by the Bee Gees Kenny and Dolly turned the song into a duet, which is completely wonderful (great chemistry), and the song became synonymous with them both It certainly has, you think of Dolly and Kenny when its mentioned.

I quite like the Bomb the Bass cover of ESG's 'Moody' faithful to the original without it being an outright copy and with a subtle mix of '90's electronics thrown in. Never knew they'd covered it until I heard the original a few years later.

The original's one of the tracks off Factory FAC34 wasn't it?
Intriguing band ESG were. Three (I think) New York sisters with a very minimalist approach to R & B. UFO off the same single was quite a striking listen, and I believe has been sampled many times. But on tracks I'll have never heard!

Yes they were mainly made up of the Scroggins sisters and were part of that NY New Wave scene which took in elements of Punk, Hip Hop, Disco and sort of became Dance Punk in the early '80's. I can see why Factory were interested in them too. Moody gets a fair few plays on 6 Music too I'll have to request the BTB version which is quite faithful/respectful to the original.

I was going to do this post as reply to Carty's Now Playing list, but realised it was probably more appropriate here.
And then I thought I'd better skim through all 41 pages to make sure it hadn't been mentioned already. After a couple of early mentions of two other Donna Summer covers, and what seemed like quite a heated debate on Tiffany vs Debbie Gibson, I got to page 38 and see that Windy did mention it. So it's really agreement of his opinion, in that the Donna Summer version of State Of Independence is far superior to the Jon & Vangelis original.
However, for a new one (and I don't think it's popped up in the last 41 pages), is that I somehow prefer the Fierce version of Anita Baker's Sweet Love, which shouldn't really happen. But it has.

Following on from my post in the Cover versions for Room 101 thread >>> Here <<< I've always preferred Andy Williams version of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" to Frankie Valli's original: Frankie Valli: Andy Williams: There are many other cover versions out there too but in my opinion none of them top the Andy Williams version. Sam.

I always thought Andy Williams was the original version of this track having been recorded in 1968. Frankie's original is from 1967, who knew. Cheers Sam.

Once again, following on from my post in the Cover versions for Room 101 thread >>> Here <<< I've always preferred Marvin Gaye's version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" to the original by Gladys Knight and the Pips: Gladys Knight and the Pips: Marvin Gaye: There are many other covers but there's no doubting in my mind that Marvin's is head and shoulders above all others. Sam.

Think this is a better version than Bob Seger just makes you appreciate how good Thin Lizzy were live.

Both are good but I slightly prefer the Jackson Fives cover of the Jackson Brown song Doctor my Eyes
