An excellent cover version which I only recently found out is actually a cover is "This Flight Tonight" by Scottish Rock Band Nazareth, which they released in 1973. It was originally a song from the 1971 Joni Mitchell album Blue. I prefer the Nazareth cover version Steed

Sticking with Nazareth's covers here's another that they covered:
Tomorrow - My White Bicycle
Nazareth - My White Bicycle
The original has more than a hint of psychedelia to it which isn't to my taste however I have noticed that in Nazareth's version they revised the reference of "rubbish bin" to "garbage bin". Why I don't know as they were a Scottish band, perhaps they were trying to get more recognition in the good ol' US of A?
I particularly took to this track when it was released because it was only about a month after completing the first pushbike that I'd completely built from scratch from a selection of bits that I'd bought or robbed from my other bikes. I purpose built it to use on my paper-round and, you guessed it, it was white. "Cow horn" handlebars, "centre-pull" brakes, 4-speed Sturmey Archer instead of derailleur gears, it was all I needed and perfect for wheelies. I'd even built the wheels from parts lacing all the spokes in and truing them up. Oh to be a 13 year old again with that amount of spare time on my hands!
Sam.

Original by Nine Inch Nails Johnny Cash covered the song, made it his epitaph, and even better and more emotional

You can't fault Marvin Gaye's version, but you can't fault this cover from Creedence Clearwater Revival either :-

An amazing cover by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Well excuse my ignorance regarding country but I never knew this was a cover. Its a good duet on a good track. The original was by the Bee Gees Kenny and Dolly turned the song into a duet, which is completely wonderful (great chemistry), and the song became synonymous with them both
