I think it was Kirsty McColl who did a cover of Marianne Faithfuls As tears go by sometime in the 80s and this is better than the 60s original in my opinion

It didn't initially ring any bells when I read your post Cartman but of course as soon as it started I knew the song . I couldn't find any info regarding a Kirsty Cover but here's a few I picked up whilst looking about. Hear we go. . Marianne Faithful - As Tears Go By 1965
PP Arnold - 1968
Judy Stone -1983
And here's The Rolling Stones with Taylor Swift - 2013

Not really a huge difference between them but I prefer Sweet's version of Tom Tom Turnaround to the original by New World:

The Isley Brothers did the original back in the summer of 1976. But I prefer the 1988 version of the song by the Christians. Vi

Yes that wasn't too bad a cover Vi.
The Christians are one of those bands I don't like or hate but don't really go out my way to listen to generally, maybe a bit on the bland side for me.

Who knew? Blondie's "Hanging On The Telephone" is a cover version of an original by The Nerves. With Debbie Harry on vocals, it's preferable to the original

Agreed Windy but The Nerves original isn't too bad more of a 60's sound too it. Both versions don't sound that different to be honest.

Another one is I knew the Bride. I don't know who did it originally, but I heard a rather slow version the other day. Dave Edmund's 1977 cover is massively better.
