Cheers guys. RE Cliff, I think he did three or four which I liked. Move it, from 1958, probably the best rock n roll record ever by a non US artist, then a long gap until the late 70s/early 80s, I liked Miss you Nights, Devil Woman and Carrie. A couple of others which were OK ish were I cant ask for anything more than you from the summer of 76 and Wired for Sound from 81.
Right, September now and talking about The Bellamy Brothers reminded me of a major crash and burn in about September 79...
In the building I worked in, the insurance office I worked at was on the 6th floor, and on the 8th floor was an advertising agency and we used to get the odd bit of stray post intended for other companies in the building so it was one of my jobs to drop them off. The advertising agency had a dazzlingly beautiful brunette receptionist. I am not messing, she looked like Megan Fox or Kate Beckinsale and was about the same age as me at the time, 19 ish. I thought to myself "Carty, I need to be taking her out for a meal or a drink in a nice pub, driving her in my A40, with something like The Bellamy Brothers on the radio, definitely something more mellow than Hersham Boys!, get up there and chat her up, next time we get any bits of missing post"
A couple of days later, lo and behold, one turned up! Thought to myself "Right, you've got to be cool and say something witty so she will be impressed, but you wont, you will come out with some b***ocks and she will think you're an idiot and you will crash and burn!"
Guess what, I did, and failed dismally!!
