May, before the end of the day. Another great month, memories of me getting my first motor, my Austin A40, and listening to a lot of these great tracks while driving around in it. I also managed to pull the previous year's Radcliffe carnival queen, Elaine... 79 was a top year, some great memories too. Lets not spoil it so we will ignore the fact that the electorate voted in someone stupid in the General election that month..(ooh, bit of politics!!)
PS, crashed and burned with the carnival queen bird after about 6 weeks........
Blondie - Sunday Girl*
Roxy Music - Dance away*
Abba - Does your mother know*
Eruption - One way ticket*
Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways*
Bowie - Boys keep swinging*
Dickies - Banana Splits* They were a tongue-in-cheek punk band who did all sorts of daft stuff, like a 100mph version of Nights in white satin! One of their albums was called Stukas over Disneyland!
Police - Roxanne - I may be a bit controversial at this point but I have never liked them. Partly because at the time, the pub we all used to go in at lunchtimes, the now sadly-gone George & Dragon in Manchester had them on the juke box non stop for weeks and it drove me mad!!!!
Earth Wind & fire and The Emotions - Boogie Wonderland*
Undertones - Jimmy Jimmy*
Monks - Nice legs shame about the face - sort of OK ish I suppose
Sparks - Number one song in heaven*
Donna Summer - Hot Stuff*
ELO - Shine a little love*
Tubes - Prime Time* - love this,. deserved to be a much bigger hit
Linda Clifford - Bridge over Troubled water* - 100mph disco version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic, oddly good!
