I did watch a bit of Cool it Carol, but assumed it was going to be a bit "Confessions of a Window Cleaner"-ish so gave it up. As said, I liked the street and railway scenes from the early 70s but that was about it.
Last night I watched Yesterdays Hero with Ian McShane and I thought it was actually a bit better than I thought it was going to be. I noticed that it was written by Jackie Collins, so in view of this unpromising start, my expectations weren't high, but it wasn't bad, if a little clichéd, alcoholic, past it footballer given last chance etc.
I always find McShane watchable, and Paul Nicholas was in it too as the chairman, with Adam Faith as the manager - Ive never been a big fan of his, although he was Ok in Budgie. I liked the football scenes as it was a reminder of the era when football was still accessible and a part of the community and in touch with the fans, before mega money elevated it to its current status, and I am also a big fan of, and can remember, the late 70s disco era. Scenes in a disco with Anita Ward's Ring my Bell and The Dooleys Wanted brought back some great summer 79 memories. I'd seen this listed a few times but gave it a miss because of the Jackie Collins link. I'll give it a view next time it's on thanks to your post Cartman

I watched "Cool It Carol" a couple of days ago. Not a great film but always good to see old cars, fashions etc from the late 60's, early 70's. I was captivated by Janet Lynn, seems she didn't have much of a film career. Do any of our resident experts know much about her above what is available on IMDB? I don't know much about her either. I did have the DVD Steve, but sold it for a few quid on ebay. You're right that's it's not a great movie, but it was filmed in an interesting period. I think it got several bad reviews at the time as you might expect from this sort of film.

I don't know if it's in talkingpictures schedules currently but they have shown another Pete Walker film in a similar vein, 'Home Before Midnight' which concerns a subject that is probably more current today than it was when it was made, it concerns a rock star who lands in trouble for having sex with an underage girl. The screenwriter for this film, Cool It Carol & a few other Walker films was Murray Smith, writer of the Sweeney episode 'Faces'.

I watched a Michael Caine film on TPTV last night called Deadfall. I hadn't seen this one before, it's from 1968, falling between "Billion Dollar Brain" & "The Italian Job".
It's repeated again tonight at midnight and it's worth recording if you're not a nightowl.
Film score by John Barry and theme song by Shirley Bassey. Reviews are not my strong point so here's the trailer:

I caught a few minutes of a film with Ian Hendry and Janette Scott last night on Talking Pictures, before going up to bed. It was called The Beauty Game as I recall. I'd like to have watched it, but it had been on for thirty minutes and it was late. It looked ok, and in colour too. I will have to look out for the next repeat. Anyone on the forum seen it, and what did you think? Ian Hendry was a lot younger looking in it, and only Seven years before Get Carter.

That's right, Saint 'The Beauty Jungle' I will try and catch it next time. Janette Scott looked nice in it.

Apparently Talking Pictures has announced that from November 30th it will be possible to view their channel without the use of a HD TV set or HD box.
It seems they are boosting their signal,so viewers on Freeview will be able to watch the channel.

Looking at the schedule, later at 8pm is 'Butch And Sundance The Early Days', not a film I've seen but a familiar one to Minder fans.
