Is anyone else on here a fan of this? I think its great, I tend to watch bits on it quite late at night and one of the things I love about it is that it shows some pretty obscure films which I have never seen previously, or haven't done since they were originally released.
Its a great source of 60s and 70s stuff, some of which I will watch just for the era and location filming. Last night a film called "all the right noises" was on which was a drama about a guy in his late 30s (Tom Bell) having an affair with a much younger girl (Olivia Hussey) Yootha Joyce was in it in a minor role and the locations, London around 1970 were superb.

I love this channel and it's one of my favourites. I have watched a few films on this channel including "Friday Night, Saturday Morning", "The Lonliness Of The Long Distance Runner", "I'm Alright Jack", "Loot", "Hell Drivers", A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square", to name but a few. I'm a bit annoyed I missed "All The Right Noises" but the beauty of this channel is that it will be repeated soon, unlike other channels, the repeats are worth watching out for. Perhaps if any members see something of interest that's going to be on they can post it here so we can watch too? Great thread Cartman

Another rare film was on a week or two back called Sky west and crooked, Ian McShane and Hayley mills were in it and it was filmed in Gloucestershire in the late 60s, during a beautiful summer. It was about a young girl and a gypsy who ended up together, the story wasn't much but it was beautifully filmed.

The best channel on tv as far as British films go, the only channel in fact that shows them regularly as well as tv shows, BFI documentaries & interviews. The complaint I have with this channel & other channels that show older films ( Movies4Men etc. ) is that, in an age of HD, the picture quality disappoints.
As for films to recommend, tomorrow they're showing 'My Brother's Keeper', a pretty good 'convicts on the run' yarn with Jack Warner & a very young George Cole handcuffed together. On Friday there's 'The Trap' with Oliver Reed & Rita Tushingham. On Saturday 'The Shout', an unusual sort of horror film set in the Devon countryside with Alan Bates & John Hurt. On Sunday is the excellent 'Albert RN', probably my favourite POW film & you will remember Dennis mentioning it in AWPet, also 'A Hill In Korea', mentioned recently on the Stanley Baker thread.
Looking at the schedules on their site there is loads of good stuff tucked away. The ideal would be to have a channel with a schedule that recreated the 70s or 60s viewing experience with period adverts, etc., like the theme nights you used to see. The problem I think is that most of us are watching less & less tv as it's lost the place it once had in our lives.

Thanks for the recommendations Arthur I have seen Albert RN (on TPTV) but will try to give the others a go. I like your idea about a 60's/70's channel with adverts, I'm not sure how many would be allowed given today's modern sensibilities. I think there used to be a channel dedicated to just adverts but it was pretty short lived.

so it's long overdue Another rare film was on a week or two back called Sky west and crooked, Ian McShane and Hayley mills were in it and it was filmed in Gloucestershire in the late 60s, during a beautiful summer. It was about a young girl and a gypsy who ended up together, the story wasn't much but it was beautifully filmed. This was one of several '60s and '70s films shown across BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 in the mid '80s during a season of classics which also included 'The Jokers', 'Kaliedascope', 'Only When I Laugh', 'Performance', 'Get Carter', 'Villain', 'Victim', 'Accident', 'The Perfect Friday', 'Morgan - A Suitable Case For Treatment', 'Privelige' and several others. I'm pretty sure this was the only time that 'Only When I Laugh' has ever been shown on terrestrial TV and it's always been a favourite of mine. Based on a Len Deighton novel it starred Dickie Attenborough and David Hemmings as a pair of con men, it was shot in 1968 with a great period soundtrack featuring Whistling Jack Smith. As far as I know it's never been released on VHS or DVD so it's long overdue. Another very early Ian McShane film is 'The Pleasure Girls', a 1966 film which is available on DVD in the BFI series.
